I know you’re itching to dive into the Lands Between, but trust me, you’re going to want this guide open in another tab.

Elden Ring, this open-world masterpiece, is punishing enough without trying to remember which bell bearing unlocks which smithing stone or whether your build would’ve been better off starting as a Wretch.

We’ve been grinding through every cave, catacomb, and demigod boss fight to pull together the essentials you actually need. Let’s get you prepped.

Elden Ring Classes

Your starting class shapes your early tribulations more than your final destination, though picking the wrong one can make Limgrave feel twice as lethal. These classes are:

  • Elden Ring Hero Class
  • Elden Ring Bandit Class
  • Elden Ring Astrologer Class
  • Elden Ring Warrior Class
  • Elden Ring Prisoner Class
  • Elden Ring Confessor Class
  • Elden Ring Wretch Class
  • Elden Ring Vagabond Class
  • Elden Ring Prophet Class
  • Elden Ring Samurai Class

Elden Ring Scrolls

These dust-caked manuscripts unlock additional sorceries, provided you know which scroll-teaching NPC to cozy up to in the Lands Between. Each scroll expands a spell roster and transforms your caster into a legitimate threat beyond pebble-tossing.

  • Academy Scroll
  • Conspectus Scroll
  • Royal House Scroll

Elden Ring Divine Towers

If your Great Rune feels useless after beating a Shardbearer, that’s because you haven’t climbed a Divine Tower. These six structures let you restore the rune’s full power at the top. Hit the peak, and those dead Two Fingers will finally wake up to your blessing.

  • Divine Tower of Limgrave – Godrick’s Great Rune
  • Divine Tower of Caelid – Radahn’s Great Rune
  • Divine Tower of Liurnia – Cursemark of Death
  • Divine Tower of East Altus – Mohg’s Great Rune and Morgott’s Great Rune
  • Divine Tower of West Altus – Rykard’s Great Rune
  • Isolated Divine Tower – Malenia’s Great Rune

Elden Ring Ashes of War

Ashes of War are the bread and butter of Elden Ring’s combat customization. You’ll find them stuck to scarabs, looted from Night’s Cavalry, or pulled off unique weapons you’ve outgrown.

Slot one onto a compatible weapon at any Site of Grace, and suddenly your plain Longsword can launch a Gravitas pull and parry spells with Carian Retaliation. They’re not consumable either; pop one off and reapply it as many times as you like, which means you can experiment until you find the perfect match for your build.

  • All Elden Ring DLC Ashes of War
    • Ash of War Dryleaf Whirlwind
    • Ash of War Aspects of the Crucible: Wings

Elden Ring Golden Seeds

Golden Seeds are vital items you can find near golden Erdtree saplings (or as boss drops) across the map. They increase the charges of your Flask of Crimson Tears (health) and Flask of Cerulean Tears (FP) at Sites of Grace.
Players start the game with 4 charges of them. You need 30 seeds to reach the maximum of 14, greatly improving survivability. Anyway, around 45 of these seeds are available in the game.

Elden Ring Sacred Tears

Sacred Tear is an item you can consume to upgrade your Flask of Crimson Tears and Flask of Cerulean Tears to make them more effective. You can usually find these near Marika Statues or inside a ruined church, but it’s not something you would stumble upon either. There are only 12 Sacred Tears throughout the map. Check the links below to learn their exact locations.

Torin Hall

He fell in love with games when life became a little too real. But unlike many others, he doesn’t play games just to escape the reality. He plays because this world is not enough to satisfy his imagination. He immerses himself in games as if nothing else matters, diving deep into their worlds as if time were eternal. So, he says, why not know the most about games? And why not share the most about them? As someone who truly lives in games, he is here to guide you on this journey. Hints and tips, facts and hidden secrets from many games are woven into his words. So, read him!
