Sacred Tear Locations

Elden Ring Church of Pilgrimage Sacred Tear Location

The Elden Ring Church of Pilgrimage Sacred Tear location is one of the easiest ones to reach in the game. You will find it at the foot of the statue at the back of the church, on the northern tip of the Weeping Peninsula. No boss, nothing at its gate. Walk in and take it. Here’s the fastest route there, plus three things most players ride straight past that you should grab with this Elden Ring guide.

Church of Pilgrimage Sacred Tear Location

The church is at the very top of the Weeping Peninsula, on the cliffs directly north of the region’s Minor Erdtree. It’s a roofless ruin. So you’ll spot it from a distance.

Head inside and look at the base of the large statue at the back. The Sacred Tear is glowing on a corpse there. There’s a Site of Grace in the middle of the church too. So touch it before you leave.

You’ll see a white ghost sitting on a chair outside the entrance. It won’t attack you. That’s your confirmation you’re at the right church.

Warning: come during the day. Man-Bats spawn on these cliffs at night and become a nuisance.

How to Get to the Church of Pilgrimage

You have two ways to get to the Church of Pilgrimage. I’ll start with the common route and then the faster routes.

Bridge of Sacrifice Route

From the Agheel Lake South Site of Grace in Limgrave, ride straight south to the Bridge of Sacrifice. Watch the ballista as you cross. It fires flaming bolts, and it will absolutely delete Torrent if you take your time.

Once you’re across and have touched the Bridge of Sacrifice grace, turn west. That’s a right turn if you’re still facing south. Follow the path as it climbs the cliff, and you’ll run right into the church.

Pro-Tip: If this is your first trip down here, I suggest taking this two-minute detour: keep riding south instead, past the Castle Morne Rampart grace and through the gap in the rampart wall, and grab the map fragment from the obelisk sitting out in the open. With the map, the church icon is easy to find.

Faster Routes

If you’re already in the northern forest, there’s a Spirit Spring behind the Demi-Human Forest Ruins. Ride into it, get launched up the cliff, then follow the slope to the church.

There’s also a way in that skips the bridge completely, and almost nobody knows it. Go to the cliffside ruins southwest of the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave, drop onto the overhanging ruins, and find the platform with three Trina’s Lily growing on it.

Double jump south across the chasm with Torrent. You’ll land near the Demi-Human Forest Ruins, which is exactly where the Spirit Spring shortcut starts. On a fresh character, this is the fastest route to this Sacred Tear, and you never deal with the ballista.

Other Church of Pilgrimage Items

There are other useful items nearby that you should definitely grab:

ItemLocationEffect
Gilded Iron ShieldGraveyard corpse, west of churchRoundshield, high damage + holy negation
Warhawk AshesPainter’s ghost, north cliff (day only)Flying spirit summon, 52 FP
Faith-knot Crystal TearStone bowl, cliff east of church+10 Faith for 3 min (Flask)
Melina’s Marika EchoTalk to Melina at the graceMissable lore dialogue

Gilded Iron Shield

You’ll find this one on a corpse west of the church, out in the graveyard. It’s a small metal round shield, and it’s actually solid with strong damage negation plus a bonus to holy negation on top. Watch for the skeletons guarding that area. They don’t stay dead. Kill one, and it just gets back up. So make sure you finish them off while they’re still down and glowing, or you’ll be fighting the same skeleton on loop.

Warhawk Ashes

This one’s got a prerequisite, so don’t skip ahead. Head into Stormveil Castle and rest at the Liftside Chamber grace. Go out the east door, down the steps, and into the side room off the barricaded courtyard. An Ogre will chase you in there, so deal with it first. Then interact with the “Prophecy” painting.

Once that’s done, head back to the church and walk to the north cliff overlooking the sea. There’s a painter’s ghost sitting in a chair. Talk to him, and he’ll hand over the ashes. Catch is, he’s only around during the day. Chair’s empty? Rest at the grace and skip time to morning, then try again.

As for the summon itself: it costs 52 FP, and it’s fast. A flying spirit that slashes with talon-mounted swords. Patch 1.13 buffed its HP and damage, so it hits harder than you might remember.

Faith-knot Crystal Tear

East of the church, drop down the cliff and look for a stone bowl sitting under a tree. Poison flower enemies are guarding it. So go in ready or just toss down a Rainbow Stone first if you’re not sure the fall is safe. Mix this one into your Flask of Wondrous Physick, and you get +10 Faith for 3 minutes, which is genuinely great if you’re running an early incantation build.

Melina’s Marika Echo (Missable)

This is one of only seven Sites of Grace where Melina actually shares Marika’s spoken echoes. Rare stuff. Rest at the grace, choose “Talk to Melina,” then pick “I’m interested.” You do need Melina recruited first, but you don’t need to have visited the Roundtable Hold.

Don’t sit on this one. The dialogue vanishes for good once you reach Crumbling Farum Azula, and it’s gone just as permanently if you go down the Frenzied Flame ending path instead.

That’s everything worth grabbing at the Church of Pilgrimage. Did you miss the Warhawk Ashes on your first trip up here? Let me know in the comments.

FAQ

Do Sacred Tears upgrade the Flask of Wondrous Physick?

No. That flask uses Crystal Tears, which are a completely different item despite the similar name. Sacred Tears only work on your Crimson and Cerulean flasks.

Can you get this Sacred Tear at level 1?

Yes. There’s no boss and nothing gating the church. Take the Torrent double jump route and you skip the Bridge of Sacrifice ballista too, so nothing on the way can realistically kill you either.
