Arthur Morgan and Dutch’s gang first settle in Horseshoe Overlook in Chapter 2 of RDR2. There are camp item requests that several gang members ask you for. One of the very first requests is from Dutch, who asks you to bring him a pipe. You need to visit Vetter’s Echo cabin west of Wallace Station. Let’s see how to trigger this request and complete it.

How to Trigger Dutch’s Pipe Request in RDR2
So, to trigger this request item you should interact with Dutch several times during one of those interactions, while Dutch’s smoking a cigarette, Arthur asks him, “How’s the cigar?” To which he replies, “Not bad, but sometimes I prefer a pipe.” Then he proceeds to tell Arthur that he left his old pipe in Blackwater.
Then, when you open your log and look under your tasks, you can see that Dutch has asked for a pipe.
Where to Find Dutch’s Pipe in Red Dead Redemption 2
To get that pipe for Dutch, saddle up, because it’s time to find a cabin named Vetter’s Echo. This cabin is west of Wallace Station, as marked on the map, just under Little Creek River and north of Big Valley.
As you can see, there’s this little cabin here in the middle of nowhere. When you get there, proceed with utmost caution. Why, you may ask? Because there’s a big fat grizzly bear inside the cabin waiting to end your cowboy soul.
The first time, I was oblivious to this fact and entered the cabin and got eaten alive by the bear. If you’re low on ammo, just let yourself get killed, then reload and enter the cabin to see that the bear is long gone and the cabin owner has been killed by him.
Anyway, there’s the pipe on top of the drawer. Pick it up. But don’t just leave yet. There are some goodies that you don’t want to miss out on.
There’s also a cigarette card with a black widow spider picture on it next to the typewriter. That’s not all. There is also a silver pocket watch that you can sell. And by the bed, there’s a health potion you can pick up.
Dutch’s Pipe Request Reward: Vaquero Rider Spurs
When you’re done looting the cabin, it’s time to bring Dutch a pipe. Go to the camp and interact with Dutch and select “Give Request.” Dutch is so happy that, in return, he gives you the shiny Vaquero Rider Spurs.
