Elden Ring Church of Inhibition Sacred Tear Location

The Church of Inhibition Sacred Tear is on high ground above the Frenzied Flame Village in Liurnia, and it’s one of the more annoying Sacred Tear locations in Elden Ring thanks to a Madness-spewing tower and an NPC invader guarding the path up. Here’s where the tear actually is and how to deal with Vyke and the Frenzy-Flaming tower to get there.

Where to Find the Church of Inhibition Sacred Tear
The Church of Inhibition is in Liurnia of the Lakes, on high ground above the Frenzied Flame Village. It’s one of the least convenient churches in the game to reach, mostly because of what’s guarding the path up.
Start from the Bellum Church Site of Grace and head north along the main road. That road cuts you through the Frenzied Flame Village Outskirts, and from there you climb the slope directly behind the village to reach the church at the top of the hill.
The Sacred Tear itself sits at the foot of the large statue at the back of the church, marked by the usual glowing pickup light. Just walk up and grab it once you’ve dealt with Vyke and the Frenzy-Flaming tower.

How to Handle the Frenzy-Flaming Tower
Before you even get near the church, there’s a burning eye hovering over a nearby tower that builds Madness on you fast just for being in its line of sight. Annoying is a poor choice of word for this thing.
The good news is that you can destroy it permanently. A group of Frenzied Commoners at the top of the tower keeps the eye active. Kill all of them and the flame goes out for good, since they don’t respawn. If you need a breather on the way up, ducking behind rocks or terrain breaks the line of sight and lets your Madness meter drain back down.
There’s also a chest partway up with the Howl of Shabriri incantation. So it’s worth the climb even if the tower weren’t blocking your path.

Festering Fingerprint Vyke Invasion
Once you’re within range of the church, Festering Fingerprint Vyke invades on the path leading up to it, not inside the building itself. Sprint past him and rest at the Church of Inhibition Site of Grace first, then come back and fight him on your own terms.
He swings a War Spear and backs it up with Madness-inflicting incantations and hits you with Pierce and Fire damage. He’s immune to Scarlet Rot, Hemorrhage, Frostbite, and Poison. So don’t waste status buildup on him. Killing him drops Vyke’s War Spear and a Fingerprint Grape.

Other Loot and Questlines at the Church of Inhibition
Near the Site of Grace, a dead Finger Maiden sits on a chair. Loot her for the Finger Maiden Fillet, Robe, Shoes, and a full armor set in one pickup.
That same corpse comes in handy for White Mask Varre’s questline. If you’ve been anointed a Knight of Mohg and are carrying the Lord of Blood’s Favor, use the prompt on her to soak the cloth in maiden’s blood, then bring it back to Varre at the Rose Church. She’s not the only maiden who works for this, just the closest one to a route you’re already running.
The Fingerprint Grape from Vyke goes to Hyetta back at Bellum Church, continuing her questline.
While you’re here, grab these loots scattered around: Eye of Yelough, Rowa Fruit, Gold-Tinged Excrement, and Erdleaf Flower.
By now, you should be at the Church of Inhibition Sacred Tear location, hopefully, unscathed. There is also the Bellum Church Sacred Tear nearby. Go for it next and double your flask stats.
FAQ
Is Festering Fingerprint Vyke the same fight as Roundtable Knight Vyke?
No, a different encounter entirely. The invader here is Festering Fingerprint Vyke. Roundtable Knight Vyke is a separate boss fight, locked inside the Lord Contender’s Evergaol in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
Where does the Fingerprint Grape quest eventually lead?
Handing it to Hyetta keeps her questline moving toward the Three Fingers. Meeting them locks you out of every other ending unless you later use Miquella’s Needle at Placidusax’s arena. Worth knowing before you commit.
How many Sacred Tears are there in total?
Twelve in the base game, none added by Shadow of the Erdtree. That number isn’t random. It’s exactly enough to cap both flasks at +12, so this detour matters if you’re going for max potency.
