A Complete Welcome to the Game 3 Guide | Every Threat and Hack Walkthrough

Welcome to the Game 3 throws you into one brutal night as Simon, a guy who owes the wrong people money, and now has to play “The Game” to survive it. Eight killers are hunting you, and the dark net has 52 websites (most of them useless) to help make that money back. This Welcome to the Game 3 guide breaks down everything: the story, the economy, every threat, every hack, and which sites are worth it.

What’s the Story in Welcome to the Game 3?

Simon owes money to people who don’t accept excuses. To wipe the debt, he has to survive one night playing “The Game” at a rundown motel. Winning alone wasn’t enough of a payday for the people he owes. So they raised the stakes: a bet that raises the prize money and lets the organizers throw more threats at him.

Wade runs the show, and he’s not doing it alone. Eight killers are hunting Simon through the night, and several of them are Wade’s own guys. Simon’s only way out is the dark net: scattered across 52 websites are hidden puzzle pieces that, combined, clear his debt and end the night for good.

WTTG3 Difficulty Modes: Normal vs. Elite

Normal mode saves your progress every hour, on the hour. Get killed, and you go back to that last checkpoint instead of restarting the whole night.

In Elite mode, you don’t have that safety at all. No checkpoints, no do-overs. One mistake with any of the eight threats ends your run and sends you back to the start. If you’re still learning sound cues and website timing, I suggest trying normal mode first.

WTTG3 Core Gameplay Loop

Now that you know the story, you should know that the whole game revolves around DOSCoins (besides murderers trying to kill you!) So learning how to earn and spend the game’s money is your foundational survival strategy. (Just like in real life)

Earning DOSCoin

Keep a backdoor hack on you at all times. Every hacking attempt you counter pays out DOSCoin. So going in empty-handed just means free money lost. You can also hack into nearby PCs through VertMesh and hop between different virtual machine users to mine them passively. Which users are accessible is random each run, but higher-tier machines pay noticeably more than low-tier ones.

Two more income streams round things out: sell useful info you dig up on the dark net through the notes app, and risk some cash on the slot machine for a shot at a bigger payout.

Spending DOSCoin

DOSCoin goes toward keeping yourself alive and slowing everyone else down. Security gear such as motion sensors, cameras, firewalls, signal boosters, and NOP sleds (which let you prevent an incoming hack) is your main defense against the eight threats. Anon Chat and Crypt Chat let you buy and sell goods or services directly with other NPCs on the network.

You’re also racing those same NPCs toward the same goal. Paying to sabotage or remove a competitor slows their progress, but it works both ways. They can do the exact same thing to you.

The 5 Hacking Minigames Explained

Every hack you counter tests something different, like memorization or timing. Here’s what each one asks of you:

HackWhat It TestsCore Strategy
K3RN3LC0MP1L3RTyping accuracyRetype each highlighted line exactly, then hit Enter. Red text means an error. Clear it with Backspace before continuing.
memDEALLOCATERReaction timingWatch which side glows green (left, right, or both) and press A, D, or Space before that line hits the bottom. Read ahead instead of reacting late.
shiftSEQGrid navigationMove with WASD onto infected nodes and mash Space to destroy them. Return to the home node to recharge before your battery runs dry.
stackPUSHERSpatial puzzle-solvingClick the pusher node to activate it, then click stack nodes to shove them into the popper. Never set a node on a skull tile.
TOKENINEPattern matching under pressureClick the token pieces in the order shown. Always pick one before the timer runs out, even a wrong guess beats an auto-fail.

Harder versions of each hack add more blocks, tokens, or nodes to clear, and some strip out the visual hints entirely.

How to Survive Every Killer Threat

Here’s a quick guide about each of the 8 killers in the game:

Which Dark Net Websites Actually Work

Of the 52 sites on WTTG3’s dark net, roughly half are worth your time. The rest are dead ends, permanently offline decoys that only cost you clicks you don’t have to spare during a threat window.

Keys hide in three ways on the real sites: sitting in plain text on the page, tucked behind a clickable element that plays a sound when triggered, or buried in the page’s source code. Grab both the index and hash before decrypting.

The remaining 30-plus sites (Abyssal Chat, Bone Altar, Ghost Proxy, and the like) are permanently offline placeholders. Skip them entirely.

Tips to Survive Longer

If you’ve read and learned everything so far, the tips below will help you survive like a pro player:

1. Always carry a backdoor hack. Every countered attempt pays out DOSCoin, so going in without one is free money left on the table.

2. Buy motion sensors before you think you need them. Guessing threats by ear alone is harder than the sound cues make it sound.

3. Don’t spam the panic button. Patch 1.0.1 added a penalty for overusing it, so save it for when a threat is actually close.

4. Only hold one meth bag for Cletus at a time. A second bag just means he takes both.

5. Check the time before clicking on a site. Half your dead-end visits come from opening something outside its window.

6. Lock every door behind you, motel room, or back door. Most threats are stopped cold by a locked door alone.
