Queen’s Domain Trident: Location and All 5 Trident Keys

The Queen’s Domain Trident is a Pierce weapon. It sits at the base of a statue outside Obmuer Temple, right next to the door that needs four Triangular Slates. Level it to 5 and its head breaks off as a Trident Key.

That key is one of five. Two more are inside Obmuer Temple. Umbada sells one, and the last drops in the Petrified Garden. Two keys are enough to finish Obmuer Temple. The other three open optional areas and rewards.

All 5 Trident Keys at a Glance

Here is every key and where it comes from.

KeyWhere to get itNeeded to finish Obmuer Temple?
Trident Key – SapphireEmbedded in a wall in the first flooded cavern of Obmuer TempleYes
Trident Key – EmeraldOn a rock near the skeleton spawn spot, deeper in Obmuer TempleYes
Trident Key – RubyLevel the Trident to 5No
Trident Key – AmethystUmbada’s Trading Outpost, 15 Ancient Coins, with the Golden Duck Figurine stockNo
Trident Key – OnyxBoss in the Petrified GardenNo

Take each key back when you no longer need that door open. You will need the keys again at later locks.

Where to Find the Queen’s Domain Trident

The Trident is outside Obmuer Temple, on the flooded approach to the entrance. You need to Wind Dash twice in a row to cross the ruins here. If you can only dash once, get the second Wind Gem first.

Climb the stone ramp that leads up out of the water. A Barnacle sits at the top, and a few skeletal warriors guard the path. One of them is a Skeletal Arbelist. Kill them all and turn the corner. The Trident rests at the base of a statue.

The temple door is to the right of the statue. It needs four Triangular Slates, but you don’t need any key to pick up the Trident. I’d grab it before you go in, even if you already carry a spear.

Is the Trident Worth Using?

The Trident starts with more Power than the Rusted Spear, but it attacks slower.

Use the Trident if you want more starting Power and can live with slower attacks. Stay with the Rusted Spear if you put levels into it. It evolves into Jigeki’s Serpent Thrust, which adds a charged poison attack.

Both weapons deal much less damage when your Power Meter is empty. Watch it during long fights.

The Trident also gives you a Trident Key, so it is worth leveling even if another weapon is your main.

How to Get Each Trident Key

Sapphire and Emerald are inside Obmuer Temple, so they come first. Ruby comes from the Trident. Umbada sells Amethyst, and the Petrified Garden boss drops Onyx.

1- Trident Key Sapphire

The Trident Key Sapphire is in the first flooded cavern of Obmuer Temple. Walk down from the first Crystal Monument inside the temple until you reach an explorer’s note next to a ledge with flowing water. Drop off that ledge.

Five or six Glaucusions swim below, so clear them first. The key is embedded in the wall near your landing spot.

Two doors stand on the far side of the cave. The left door has one key slot. Put the Sapphire key in it and walk through. The right door has three slots, so you need three keys to open it.

2- Trident Key Emerald

The Trident Key Emerald is deeper in the temple, near the third Wind Gem. Save and restock at the Crystal Monument behind the Sapphire door first. It is hard to turn back later.

Look down from the ledge there. You will see two round doorways. Wind Dash to the open one on the left. A Toxic Homopiscium and two Homopiscium jump out of the water as you near the far ledge.

Follow the path up a staircase. Skeletal Arbelists and Skeletal Soldiers spawn at the top. Kill them, then check the rocks nearby. The key blends into the scenery, so look closely.

The Emerald key opens the locked gate that leads to the Sacred Cistern Crystal Monument. That gate is at the end of the passage beyond the third Wind Gem.

3- How to Get a Trident Key by Leveling the Trident

This key is the Trident Key Ruby. The Trident’s description says its head is loose. That is the hint.

  1. Pick up the Trident outside Obmuer Temple.
  2. Equip it.
  3. Fight enemies with it until it reaches Level 5.

The head breaks off at Level 5 and becomes the key. Only hits on enemies count. Objects do not count, and no hidden switch triggers it.

4- Trident Key Amethyst: Buy It From Umbada

Umbada’s Trading Outpost sells the Trident Key Amethyst for 15 Ancient Coins. After you beat the boss of the Tower of Knowledge, take the Golden Duck Figurine to Umbada. This unlocks the stock that includes the key. The Silver Duck Figurine from Dagoom does not unlock it.

You can skip this key for now. If you level the Trident, you get a third key much sooner.

5- The fifth Trident Key From the Petrified Garden Boss

The Trident Key Onyx drops from the boss in the Petrified Garden. The Petrified Garden section below shows how to get there.

How to Open the Three-Key Gate and Get the Engraved Halberd

The three-key gate is in the first flooded cavern of Obmuer Temple. It is the right-hand door in the same cavern as the Sapphire door. A chest behind it holds the Engraved Halberd.

The Engraved Halberd has 11 Power and average attack speed. It deals Pierce and Slash damage, so it covers more enemy weaknesses than the Trident.

To open the gate:

  1. Collect the Sapphire and Emerald keys.
  2. Get a third key. Level the Trident to 5, or buy the Amethyst key.
  3. Take every key out of the doors where you used them.
  4. Return to the cavern and put three keys into the three slots.

The gate is optional. You can finish the temple without it.

What Trident Keys Do in the Petrified Garden

Spoiler warning here

All five keys are used to solve the statue puzzle in the Petrified Garden. It has the same statues you see around the world, but these ones have key slots.

How to Reach the Petrified Garden

Use a warp station to fast travel. While the animation plays, jump off the platform into the void. You land in the Petrified Garden.

The area is full of petrified enemies. A boss waits here too. To reach its platform, you need four Wind Dashes, or three Wind Dashes plus the Cestus uppercut. The uppercut works as an extra jump, and Umbada sells the Cestus for 20 Ancient Coins. Defeat the boss to get the Trident Key Onyx. The puzzle needs all five keys, so do this first.

Which Key Goes on Which Statue

The statues in the Petrified Garden have key slots. The same statues stand around the world, and each has a colored gem. Put each key on the statue with the matching gem color. The Ratty Bug statue on the Isle of Neasied has a purple gem. The Homopiscium statue in the large Obmuer Temple cavern, where you fight the three Royal Guards, has a red gem.

StatueGem colorTrident Key
Ratty BugPurpleAmethyst
SlimeBlueSapphire
BatGreenEmerald
StagBlackOnyx
HomopisciumRedRuby

When every key is in place, the petrified enemies wake up and new doors open. They lead to loot. Some statues come alive and attack right away, so bring healing items.

Trident Keys vs Triangular Slates

Obmuer Temple uses two sets of items to open doors. The door outside the temple has four sockets and needs four Triangular Slates. Gates inside the temple have one, two or three sockets and use Trident Keys.

If you stand at a four-socket door, go look for slates. The Queen’s Domain puzzle guide covers the slates and the Tower of Knowledge puzzles.

Common Trident Key Mistakes

  • Take each key back out of a door once it is open. The three-key gate and the Petrified Garden need them again.
  • Hit enemies, not objects. Only enemy hits level the Trident.
  • Do not search the temple for a third key. It comes from the Trident or from Umbada.
  • Look closely for the Emerald key. It blends into the rocks near the skeleton spawn spot.
  • Do not stop at four keys. The Petrified Garden boss drops the fifth.
