Queen’s Domain Storm Gem: Location, Puzzle Solutions and How to Use It

The Queen’s Domain Storm Gem is in the Tower of Knowledge, the game’s third major area. You’ll find it on the large staircase in the upper part of the tower, close to Knowledge Keeper Wourha’s study. It gives you a special attack meter for the Holy Sword Endu. Below, I’ll show you how to reach it, what it does, and how to get past the locked doors that stop you right after.

Where to Find the Queen’s Domain Storm Gem

In order to find the Storm Gem, you have to go to the Tower of Knowledge. Getting in takes a few steps, so here’s the order.

First, light the three Gargoyle beacons outside the tower with the Azure Torch. That gets you in. Don’t mix them up with the numbered Gargoyles inside, because that’s a different puzzle.

Lighting the gargoyle statue in Queen’s Domain

Once you’re inside, go to the balcony and light Gargoyles 3 and 7 with the Azure Torch. This opens a nearby passage. Stick to those two. Lighting the wrong ones can start an enemy fight.

Follow the new passage up toward the upper fast-travel point and Knowledge Keeper Wourha’s study. The Storm Gem is on the large staircase right next to it.

How to Use the Storm Gem

Once you grab it, the Storm Gem turns on a special attack meter for the Holy Sword Endu. You’ll see the meter on your HUD. It comes with a stronger special attack, like an ultimate. The upgrade also applies to Soul Bound Endu.

Queen’s Domain Locked Doors After the Storm Gem

Right after you pick up the gem, you’ll see two locked doors higher up. Most players think they missed a key and can’t open the doors. You didn’t miss anything. The key comes from a dying soldier, and you have to reach him first.

This is what you should do:

1. Look under the large staircase. There is a platform there you can reach with airdash.

2. Find the lever at the bottom of the stairs. It rotates the staircase. Stuck? Useful tip: picture the staircase turning halfway around (180 degrees) and go to the spot where its bottom end would land. The lever is there.

3. Take the elevator down from the central tower. Rotating the staircase is what lets you reach it.

4. Reach the dying soldier and take the key from him.

5. Go back up to the locked doors and use the key.

This item is called the Forbidden Archives Key.

Storm Gem vs. Wind Gems in Queen’s Domain

They sound alike, but they do different jobs. The Storm Gem is a combat upgrade. It gives you the special attack meter. Wind Gems are movement upgrades. They add more Wind Dash charges, so you can dash more before you run out. Steam’s achievements list them as two separate collectibles too.

How to Unlock Raging Tempest

By recovering Storm Gem, you will get Raging Tempest achievement. And that’s how you can reach the Storm Gem and Forbidden Archives Key. If you have any advice or found an easier way to do these puzzles leave a comment below.
