Cyberpunk 2077 Weapons Guide: Everything You Should Know

Night City has enough weapons to make even a well-equipped mercenary jealous. Some are cheap guns you can loot from enemies, while others are rare Iconic weapons with effects you won’t find anywhere else.

Cyberpunk 2077 weapons cover a wide range of combat styles, from conventional firearms to blades and cyberware. This hub covers the weapon classes available in the base game and Phantom Liberty, along with the systems that determine how each weapon works.

Cyberpunk 2077 Weapons: All Types and Modes

Every firearm belongs to a class, but its technology also matters. Power weapons can ricochet bullets off surfaces, especially with the right cyberware. Tech weapons can charge their shots and penetrate cover. Smart weapons use guided projectiles that can track enemies once V has Smart Link cyberware.

The difference becomes obvious in combat. A Power pistol and a Smart pistol may share a weapon class, but they don’t behave the same way.

Cyberpunk 2077 Handguns

Handguns are divided into pistols and revolvers. They have their own fire rates and damage profiles, with perks in the Cool attribute tree. Update 2.5 also lets V dual-wield Power pistols or revolvers through the Double Trouble perk.

Submachine guns rely on rapid fire and suit close-range combat. Assault rifles offer greater flexibility across distances, with perks for both classes available through Reflexes. Precision rifles reward accurate shots, while sniper rifles put more emphasis on distant targets. Both benefit from Cool perks.

Shotguns are built for close combat and fall under Body perks. Their behavior varies with the model, especially between conventional Power shotguns and those with advanced technology.

Light machine guns provide sustained fire with larger magazines.

Heavy machine guns are different: V can take them from certain enemies or turrets, but they aren’t ordinary inventory weapons.

Cyberpunk 2077 Melee Weapons

Not every fight needs a gun. Cyberpunk 2077 has a broad selection of melee weapons, each with its own attack speed and stamina cost.

Katanas are part of the blade family, alongside machetes and chainswords.

Swords offer another option for V, while knives can serve as close-range weapons or projectiles. Certain axes can also be thrown.

Blunt weapons take a different approach. Clubs and hammers rely on physical force rather than sharp edges. Baseball bats are another familiar option in this class. Reflexes supports blade combat, while Body provides perks for blunt weapons. Cool also has a dedicated perk branch for thrown knives and axes.

Cyberware Weapons and Grenades

V can turn their own body into a weapon through arm cyberware. Mantis Blades provide fast melee attacks, while Gorilla Arms add force to unarmed combat.

Monowire gives V a weapon with greater reach than conventional melee arms. The Projectile Launch System replaces close combat with explosive projectiles. Grenades also have a place in the arsenal. Some deal direct damage, while others disrupt enemies or provide tactical cover.

Since Update 2.0, grenades have used rechargeable charges rather than disposable stacks.

Iconic Weapons and Weapon Tiers

Iconic weapons are special versions of firearms or melee weapons with unique effects. They aren’t a separate combat class. An Iconic pistol remains a pistol, even if its special ability changes how it behaves.

Weapons use a tier system from Tier 1 to Tier 5++, which replaced the original rarity labels in Update 2.0. Iconic weapons can be upgraded with crafting components, while regular weapons must be replaced with higher-tier versions. Weapon mods can alter a gun’s performance, but most cannot be removed once installed. You can still change compatible scopes and muzzle attachments.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Weapons

Phantom Liberty expands the arsenal with additional firearms and melee weapons available through Dogtown quests or other activities in the district. The expansion also introduces Iconic weapons tied to specific story decisions. Some missed Iconics can be purchased from the Black Market vendor in Dogtown, although this does not apply to every weapon.

The weapon categories remain the same, so the expansion’s arsenal fits alongside the weapons found throughout the base game.
