Graveyard Keeper 2 Dynamite: How to Get and Craft It

Explosions and explosions! Do you need some Dynamite for your mining in Graveyard Keeper 2? If yes, this article is for you!

You get your first Graveyard Keeper 2 dynamite by completing the “Can’t See the Forest for the Iron” quest. Just craft a simple candle and give it to Larry. Then take a quick trip to the Forest bandits’ camp so Larry can impersonate Robert.

After the conversation, the bandits give you 1 dynamite, which you can use on the blocked entrance of the old mine at the Quarry. Later, you can craft Graveyard Keeper 2 dynamite by using the Formulation Bench with 2 explosive dust and 1 Alcohol.

How to Get Graveyard Keeper 2 Dynamite

After gaining access to the forest, you will meet two bandits named Hans and Sven. To convince them Robert is still alive, you need Larry to play the part.

Before taking Larry to the bandits, do the following steps:

  1. Unlock Church Lighting 1
  2. Use the Formulation Bench to craft a Simple Candle (the candle requires 2 Beeswax and 1 Flax Thread)
  3. Give the candle to Larry at Inquisition Base
  4. Bring Larry to Hans and Sven
  5. Finish the Conversation and get 1 dynamite from the bandits

Note: The dynamite comes from the bandits after Larry’s impersonation, not from Larry himself.

Craft Dynamite and Full Recipe

The quest reveals the Dynamite technology, which requires Battle Potions 2 and costs 30 red and 30 green technology points. Once unlocked, craft dynamite at the Formulation Bench with the following recipe:

  • 2 Explosive Dust + 1 Alcohol: 1 Dynamite

Note: The Formulation Bench recipe stays locked until your Anatomy mastery hits level 5, even with both ingredients ready.

To craft dynamite beyond your free quest reward, you’ll need Alcohol on top of Explosive Dust. Alcohol comes from the Distilling Cube, which unlocks once you research Reanimation Liquid in the Anatomy and Alchemy tech tree. If you can’t make Alcohol yet, prioritize that tech line first. It’s the most common blocker players hit when trying to craft extra dynamite.

The same technology also gives you access to explosive dust. You can find 2 explosive dust in a chest inside the old mine. They are enough to craft dynamite once you have alcohol.

Where to Use Dynamite in Graveyard Keeper 2

At the Quarry (Old Mine), you will see the blocked entrance. Now it is time to use the dynamite. Blowing it up opens the route into the Old Mine. The mine contains useful resources, including marble deposits and explosive dust. You may also need some dynamite later for certain breakable walls in the Factory area.

Blowing up the blocked entrance also requires Building mastery 8, not just dynamite. If your mastery isn’t there yet, keep leveling it up before heading back to the Quarry. Otherwise, the game won’t let you use the dynamite on the blockage.

If you’re still setting up your crafting stations, our Graveyard Keeper 2 Smithy guide explains where to build it and how it works.
