Adrenaline Rush Perk in Cyberpunk 2077

If you’re building a tanky, melee-focused, or just plain reckless V in Cyberpunk 2077, chances are you’ve run into the Adrenaline Rush perk somewhere in the Body attribute tree. It’s one of those perks that sounds flashy on paper but actually earns its keep once you understand how it works. Here’s a full breakdown of what Adrenaline Rush does, how to unlock it, and whether it’s worth your perk points.
What Is Adrenaline Rush?
Adrenaline Rush is a Body Perk found in Cyberpunk 2077’s perk tree. It’s tied to the Body attribute and sits behind the Painkiller perk. Like a handful of other perks in the game, Adrenaline Rush has three separate levels.
Each one adds something meaningful rather than just padding out a stat by a tiny margin.
At its core, the perk is about survivability. It doesn’t make you hit harder or move faster. Instead, it changes how your character absorbs damage and recovers health. It turns healing items and cyberware into something closer to a temporary shield.
Unlock Requirements
To get Adrenaline Rush, you need:
- 15 points in Body
- The Painkiller perk unlocked
Because of the Body requirement, It’s a mid-to-late game investment, which makes sense given how strong its final level turns out to be.

Adrenaline Rush Perk Levels Explained
Level 1: +35 Max Health
The first rank is straightforward. It simply adds 35 points to your maximum health pool. It’s a modest but welcome boost, especially if you’re already committing to Body as your primary attribute.
Level 2: +20% Health Regen Bonus
The second level boosts the effectiveness of all health regeneration you receive, from any source, by 20%. This stacks with other regen perks and effects, so if you’ve built around sustain, this rank quietly makes everything else you’re doing more efficient.
Level 3: Unlocks Adrenaline Rush Mode
This is where the perk actually earns its name. Once unlocked, Blood Pump cyberware and health items (like MaxDoc inhalers) don’t just heal you. They also grant Adrenaline equal to 30% of your max health, up to a cap of 50% max health.
Adrenaline shows up as a distinct yellow bar layered on top of your normal health bar.
Functionally, it acts like bonus health: incoming damage chips away at your Adrenaline before it touches your actual health pool.

The catch is that Adrenaline decays over time, so it’s not a permanent buffer. You need to keep using healing items or Blood Pump charges to keep it topped up. As long as you have any Adrenaline left, Adrenaline Rush mode stays active.
Sub-Perks That Build on Adrenaline Rush
Once Adrenaline Rush is unlocked, several other perks in the Body tree interact with or enhance it, including:
- Calm Mind: slows down how quickly your Adrenaline decays
- Unstoppable Force: grants immunity to certain movement-impairing and non-damaging status effects while Adrenaline Rush is active
- Pain to Gain: grants a Health Item recharge bonus after neutralizing an enemy while Adrenaline Rush is active
These aren’t required to make Adrenaline Rush useful, but they turn it from a solid defensive tool into the backbone of an entire tanky playstyle.
Is Adrenaline Rush Worth It?
For most Body-heavy builds, yes. It’s rare in Cyberpunk 2077 to find a three-level perk where every single rank pulls its weight, and Adrenaline Rush manages it, a health boost, a regen boost and a genuinely game-changing mechanic at the top.
The main caveat players run into on higher difficulties (Hard and Very Hard) is that Adrenaline can burn through fast against enemies that hit hard. Therefore, it works best paired with some armor investment rather than as your only line of defense.
