OSRS Wyrd Boss Fight Guide: How to Defeat It Easily

To beat the OSRS Wyrd boss in The Blood Moon Rises quest, you must learn a thing or two about a few core mechanics across two phases of this maddening boss fight. This vampirized version of Safalaan Hallow requires you to constantly switch prayers and whatnot. That said, let’s take the boss down for good.

OSRS Wyrd Fight: Best Gear Setup

What do you do when you think of beating the crap out of an ugly, good-for-nothing boss? Equip your best gear. Atta boy. Now grab your best slash gear, such as a Blisterwood Flail. Pack plenty of brews and super restores. Don’t forget a Menaphite remedy to save the day. It recovers your stats in a jiffy.

Phase 1: How to Dodge the Screech and Ground Slam

I’m not going to lie. This boss fight took me a couple of tries to fully understand, but once you get the rhythm down, it’s a breeze. During the first phase, keep your melee prayer active as Wyrd punches twice, which knocks you back one tile every time. Then, remember to always make sure your back isn’t against some obstacle or wall so you don’t take extra recoil damage.

After Wyrd throws a couple of the punches, he goes for his infamous screech attack:

What you should do here is immediately turn off your overhead prayers so your prayer points don’t drain and you don’t take any heavy damage. It’s always best to wear Earmuffs or a Slayer Helmet to help reduce this incoming damage.

If his stupid roar attack hits three times, then the boss simply restarts his attack cycle from the beginning. However, if the annoying wail only hits twice, Wyrd follows up with one or two heavy ground slams.

This ground slam hits in the exact same direction as his punch. Move just one tile to the opposite side and you’ll avoid it no problem. Just don’t go any farther than that or Wyrd will spin around and change where it lands. The first time Wyrd hit me with that ground slam I panicked, but managed to die near the end of the fight!

Phase 2: How to Escape the Lightning Impact Zone

Would be too easy if his roaring style stayed the same throughout the entire fight, right? In the second phase, this unholy creature replaces his normal screech with a deadly lightning roar attack. Damaging blood pools will spawn across the arena, though the area directly surrounding the boss starts completely clear.

Again, I should insist, remember guys, NO overhead prayers. As lightning strikes the blood, it destroys the pools and creates safe pathways for you to follow. Simple as that. Follow these newly cleared spots to escape the growing lightning howl that’s coming from the boss.

If you can’t find a perfectly clear path to escape the growing lightning scream area, it’s perfectly fine to step on the blood and take damage to safely get the hell out of Dodge, which is in this case the roaring impact zone. Rinse and repeat until the mad Wyrd boss is taken care of.

Now y’all can be happy that you pulled it off. You took down this boss and emerged victorious, which is no small feat. I guarantee you, but the quest isn’t over yet. Jason’s journey of countless memorable video game stories began when he was only 8 years old. Most of the time, he would play Mortal Kombat 4 on his PC after school. When night fell, it was time for the original Resident Evil 3 to scare the living daylights out of him. But he wouldn’t trade those good old days for anything. Jason is a minimalist at heart and that translates into his guide writing as well. He likes to break down gameplay mechanics into simpler parts so that the audience can find what they’re looking for in no time.
