Gothic Remake Two Handed Trainer Guide

If you want to swing the biggest weapons in Gothic Remake, you’re going to need to learn two-handed combat. You can’t just grab a massive sword and start smashing. First, you have to find the two handed trainers. In this guide, I’ll show you exactly when and who to learn 2H from, plus some of the best two-handed swords and how to get them.
What You Will Find Here
All Two-Handed Trainer Locations in Gothic Remake
Your faction choice entirely determines who teaches you how to fight with two-handed weapons. Here’s exactly where you need to go:
Old Camp Two-Handed Trainer Location
Thorus is your trainer, but he won’t offer lessons until Chapter 3. You must be promoted to a Guardsman or become a Fire Mage before he agrees to help you.

He’s usually standing guard outside the Old Camp Castle entrance.
New Camp Two-Handed Trainer Location
Lee leads the Mercenaries and provides 2H training. You can access his lessons once you join his ranks and become a member of the New Camp.

He’s usually inside his hut in the cave at the New Camp. Go to the entrance of the Water Mages’ area and turn right. Walk past the two guards to get into his hut. Keep in mind, the guards will block you if you try to approach his hut before Chapter 3.
Swamp Camp Two-Handed Trainer Location
Cor Angar teaches two-handed combat to the Templars and he’ll do so if you become a member of the Swamp Camp.

From Baal Tondral’s tent in the Swamp Camp, go left until you see a sign with a weapon symbol. Follow it toward the stairs to the right of the tree. Go up the stairs and turn right to find the training grounds. Once inside the training grounds, you can find him there.
How to Unlock 2H Combat: The One-Handed Requirement
Recent game patches made it completely mandatory to max out one-handed (1H) combat before you can start learning 2H skills. You can’t skip straight to the big swords anymore. To learn basic 1H combat, it costs you 10 Learning Points (LP) and to max out this skill, you should spend another 20 LP.

If you’re a Mercenary, you can speak to Cord to cap your 1H skills, which will then unlock Lee’s 2H training options. Once unlocked, basic 2H training costs 30 LP. To max out 2H combat, it’ll cost you an additional 40 LP, which brings your total 2H investment to 70 LP.
2H Combat Mechanics Explained: Is It Good?
When you first learn 2H combat, the swing speed is incredibly sluggish. Enemies will often attack mid-animation and interrupt you, which leaves you defenseless. To make these weapons truly viable, you must reach Mastery Level 3. This speeds up your attack animations and gives you a much better reach.
Once mastered, 2H weapons are fantastic for crowd control because you can hit up to three opponents in a single swing. Late in the game, 2H swords overpower other weapons, and I can confidently say they’re vastly superior for dealing with heavily armored enemies and swarms of orcs.

If you’re having trouble landing combos, turn off the combat flow helper setting in the menu. This default setting is meant to assist players, but it can actually mess up your timing. Instead, watch your weapon for a white wind visual effect and press your attack button right when you see it.
Also, keep in mind that 2H axes feature an unlimited left-right combo chain if you time your strikes perfectly.
Best Two-Handed Mage Hybrid Build
If you’re trying to build a character that uses both full magic and 2H weapons, that’s incredibly difficult because of the massive LP requirements. It takes 70 LP to cap the two-handed skills. It also costs you another huge chunk of points to unlock all six magic circles.

If you want to make a hybrid build work, you have to compromise: You can clear the entire map of monsters to grind for maximum experience, which allows you to reach levels as high as 33 or 35. Instead of spending LP on mana, keep your natural mana base low, around 30 to 50 and rely on rings, amulets, plus permanent stat potions to boost it.
Stop at Magic Circle 4 for utility spells and put the rest of your earned points into strength and 2H combat. So I can say it’s doable.
Best Two-Handed Weapons in Gothic 1 Remake
While you’re exploring and leveling up, you will eventually stumble across the game’s most powerful gear. Uriziel is hands down one of the best two-handed swords, which boasts 90 damage.

You get this weapon in the Sleeper Temple. If you’re playing as a mage, Xardas will help you remove the rune from Uriziel. This lets you use its power for magic rather than swinging it as a two-handed melee weapon. Here are the stats:

Another top-tier weapon that deals a massive 110 damage is Innos’ Rage. You can actually get your hands on this powerful two-handed sword alongside Scar’s sword, which is one-handed, as early as Chapter 1, even though you aren’t exactly meant to have it that soon.

After you have permission to enter the castle, go ahead and knock out Scar, who is one of Gomez‘s bodyguards. Loot him and retrieve his sword. Then you can go ahead and take down Gomez too to loot the magnificent Innos’ Rage sword.
Until you can do that, grab the Templer’s two-handed weapon in the mines, if you’re kind enough to let a Minecrawler take care of a templar so you can loot him and have this sword.
