Pragmata Diana Explained | A Complete Character Guide

In Pragmata, Diana is always the face of the game. While you walk around as Hugh, Diana has a protagonist’s presence, and her role in the story’s unfolding is too prominent to ignore. In this guide, we will explore everything about her from her appearance to her abilities and relationship with Hugh. So stick with me to learn more.

What is Diana in Pragmata?

Diana (also known as D-I-0336-7) is a cutting-edge Pragmata android created in the Cradle. As a protagonist of Pragmata, she assists Hugh Williams, the main playable character and a human, throughout various missions.

She is portrayed by Nao Tōyama in the Japanese version and Lee Joo-eun in the Korean version.

Diana’s Character Description

I know she is an android, but she has a personality. She doesn’t just look like a 7-year-old girl; she is one, too. With an absent-minded demeanor, she seems oblivious to the dangers that threaten her. Diana’s limited accumulated data causes her to explore her surroundings with an innocent curiosity.

Diana’s Story in Pragmata

Pragmata is about the spacefarer, Hugh Williams, and the android, Diana, who are on a mission in a lunar research station. Their objective is to fight IDUS, a hostile AI that has taken the control of the station. Talk about perfect timing with the current AI boom, right?

In their journey, they meet Eight (An android like Diana), who holds critical knowledge about IDUS, and many more adventures that I refuse to spoil for you. Once the job is done, they should return to Earth. Hopefully, in one piece!

Diana’s Appearance

At first glance, Diana looks like an everyday, cute little 7-year-old girl, but upon closer inspection, you will start to notice her robotic features. She has a light skin tone that highlights the rosy hue on her cheeks.

What complements her light colors are her glowing robotic blue eyes that shift to green around the iris. But perhaps the most meticulously designed feature is her platinum hair that cascades down to her waist. Diana always wears an oversized Babel Industries blue jacket and walks around barefoot.

Diana’s Abilities and Hacking Powers

It might look like Hugh does all the fighting and Diana is just the protagonist’s kid sidekick, but her unique skills and abilities have a huge impact on their progress. She can navigate and hack into security systems, which lets her unlock doors as well as disarm enemies’ armor and cause them to take more damage.

While fighting and exploring, you will also collect Lunafilament, which you can use later at the Shelter’s 3D printers to upgrade weapons and create Diana’s hacking nodes. After installation by Cabin, you can find them on the hacking panel. As of today, two hacking nodes have been discovered in the game:

Multihack: This connects multiple enemies together and disables their armor simultaneously. Their weak spots also become vulnerable for a longer time, but the damage decreases over time. If you pass through multiple nodes of the same type, the targets remain open for a longer time.

Decode: As the name suggests, this node attacks the enemy’s internal systems, which temporarily increases the damage they take. You can inflict it on the same target more than once, but its effects will decrease each time.

Diana’s Relationship With Hugh

At first glance, Hugh and Diana reminded me of Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us, but I discovered I couldn’t be more wrong. Diana is adorable and full of wonder, which sometimes annoys Hugh, but other times melts him away, even though he doesn’t express it.

While they are not exactly a dynamic duo, they make an effort to get along throughout the story. Despite their differences, they have a shared goal: To defeat the lunar facility’s AI and return to Earth.

During the game, Hugh constantly carries Diana on his back and protects her from various dangers she seems unaware of, which, I have to admit, feels wholesome and touching. He even named her Diana, as her Android name was too complicated to call every time.

Does Diana Die in Pragmata?

A question most fans have by the end of the game is: Does Diana die in Pragmata? The short answer is No. Fortunately, in the story’s ending, she is alive and in one piece on Earth. Earlier in the story, she and Hugh made a promise to go and find the sea. If you wait long enough, you can see a cute short post-credit scene, which shows her walking on the beach and watching the moon, fulfilling her promise.

But why is she alone? Unfortunately, Hugh gets infected by Dead Filament and sacrifices his chance of returning to Earth, so that Diana can have the chance to experience and enjoy the Earth.

Pragmata Diana Trivia

There is much more to learn about this lovely character, but I’ll leave something for you to discover during gameplay. However, I suggest reading these interesting trivia about her:

  • Diana is most famously the name of the Roman goddess of the moon. As it happens, the story unfolds on the Moon, which may be an unintentional homecoming.
  • Blue is generally symbolized as a sign of protection, a color that is predominantly signaled in Diana’s bright eyes and massive blue jacket.
  • Lunafilament, which is the material you collect during the game to use for upgrades, is the same material Diana is made from.

That’s everything you should know about Pragmata Diana. Did I miss something about this adorable android? If so, let me know in the comments below, and I’ll add it to the post. Until later, take care.
