Pause the Game Before Placing the Gate
Several players reported that pausing the simulation (using the P button on PC), placing the door, and then resuming the simulation has helped them move past this issue.
Remove the Path Before Placing the Gate
If that didn’t work out, manually remove the path that connects to this door (you can disable path joins with the Ctrl button or just right-click on the path in front of the glass walls), place the door, and connect the path again as the game asks you to do so.
Place the Aquarium Gate Higher
This trick is also to cut off the auto path connection of the game. Place the door higher, and the game should stop freezing.
Remove the Aquarium Glass and Undo
Some players reported that by removing and undoing the action (Ctrl+Z), they have moved past this issue.
Change Display Mode

Why Does the Aquarium Gate Freeze the Game?
The issue seems to be connected to the auto-pathing connection feature of the game, as the next objective asks you to connect a path to allow the staff to reach the gate and work; the auto connection may be confusing the game and resulting in a crash. Tho this is all speculation, there’s no official explanation posted by Frontier for this particular problem.
Has Frontier Fixed the Aquarium Gate Bug?
Frontier has recognised soft locks and bugs in career mode in their newest patch (1.0.5) and has been trying to fix them. However, there’s no direct mention of the aquarium gate bug in the list yet. For a more straightforward fix, we have to wait for the upcoming patches.
