Mina the Hollower Endings Explained: Is There a True Ending?

There is a lot of confusion around Mina the Hollower endings. What You’ll Read:
Are There Multiple Mina the Hollower Endings
Until literally a few days ago, I would have told you absolutely not, there is only one Mina the Hollower true ending. But some absolutely mad players just uncovered a massive, incredibly hidden second ending. So yes, there are multiple endings, but you have to play like an absolute saint to receive zero blame from Lionel and have a chance to see the second one.
But as far as the main ending, most people get the same one. Except for one ending that had this minor difference that I did not find in the other endings: If you save the cats, they will appear on your boat when you are running away from the people hunting you. You can check it out in the picture below:

I also heard something from Yacht Club Games designer Alec Faulkner that made me confused. During an interview, he said, “There is another ending,” when asked, “Is there bad ending?” At first, I thought he was talking about saving the cats mentioned above. But now I realize he was talking about the secret ending.
What Happens in Mina the Hollower True Ending
If you thought the standard ending was a bleak gothic tragedy, hold onto your seats, because the secret alternate ending is arguably way more depressing. This hidden path is called The Deed of Tenebrous, and here is how it goes down:
During the elegant dinner party scene with Lionel, the corrupted Baron usually tears you to shreds by listing your crimes. But what happens if you haven’t committed a single sin? If you arrive at the banquet with absolute zero blame, Lionel completely changes his tune. He softens up, gets all sentimental about the old days, and straight-up invites Mina to join forces with him. (the audacity!!!)

You have two choices here: If you tell him “Never!”, the game just proceeds to the final dungeon like normal. But if you Accept his offer, the entire final dungeon and all the final boss fights are completely skipped. Instead, you jump straight to an absurd cutscene and an alternate credits roll.
Mina and Lionel sail away from Tenebrous Isle together on a boat while an official “Deed of Tenebrous” document pops up on screen, proving the island’s ownership has been handed over. Lionel smugly notes that the island is thriving and Thorne’s rebellion has been completely crushed off-screen.

You know what the ultimate irony is? By playing a perfectly moral, “sinless” run, Mina commits the ultimate sin of siding with a villain and abandoning everyone she knows. Talk about dark.
How to Unlock Mina the Hollower Secret Ending
As I mentioned, to get this ending, you need to become blameless. And being without sin is an absolute nightmare! There are about 53 sins you need to avoid to get the blameless ending. It is practically impossible to do it on a fresh save file; you basically need to be on New Game+ with skip modifiers active. Here are the modifications you need:

If you want to try a legendary “Sinless Run,” here are the massive traps you have to avoid:
- You can only ride the Coltrane Peak train exactly once. Any more than that, and you’re blamed for the train crash.
- Do not smash a single candlestick or street lamp. Also, do not jump into the leaf piles in Crow Town.
- You must talk to Cappy repeatedly after the boat crash until you can officially offer to bring him with you, so he isn’t left on a burning ship.
- You must skip the Orphanage ribbon-cutting scene immediately, save all three kids from the Carving Man in Septemburg, and donate to every single beggar in Ossex and the Shifted Sands.
- Do not touch the boy’s bike in Ossex, don’t steal the Pink Gorilla’s ladder, and whatever you do, do not interrupt the kids playing kick the can in Ossex. The kid with the hat will narc on you instantly.
- Talk to Cappy repeatedly after the boat crash until you invite him along.
- Start the Orphanage ribbon-cutting scene, but immediately press skip.
- Do not break a single street lamp.
- Do not break any candles.
- Avoid jumping into the lower-left leaf piles near the pipe in crow town.
- Only ride the train to Coltrane Peak exactly one time.
- Do not interrupt the Ossex kids playing kick the can.
- Do not talk to the glowing rich lady in Ossex.
- Donate to all 4 beggars in Ossex.
- Donate to all 3 beggars in the Shifted Sands.
- Sell at least one item to the Pawn Shop.
- Skip the moth sidequest after Septemburg.
- Do not complete Poppit’s quest.
- Do not go fishing.
- Do not use the telescope.
- Do not dig up the Groundskeeper’s grave in the Crypt.
- Do not steal the Pink Gorilla’s ladder.
- Leave the Ossex boy’s bike alone.
- Do not fight Midden.
- Do not fight Dugin.
- Do not fight Mirren in Coltrane Peak.
- Do not fight Maxi.
- Heal Frayd after beating him up.
- Bypass the Mock Moon boss by taking the secret 5th mirror in Coltrane Peak.
- Save all 3 children from the Carving Man’s chase scenes.
- Do not help the tomato farmer.
- Do not release the hanging crows in Septemburg.
- Do not talk to the captured bachelor in Bone Beach.
- Do not fill the frog’s mug in Nox’s Bayou.
- Never get caught in the dark.
- Do not repair the Hollower’s Guild.
- Activate the Septemburg generator.
- Activate the Nox’s Bayou generator.
- Good luck! One single slip-up is all it takes to send you right back to the standard ending.
What Happens in Mina the Hollower Good Ending
Mina the Hollower’s main ending was a gothic tragedy, and I’m not sure if we should call it the “good” ending, to be honest. But compared to the secret ending, it is, I guess. Anyway, here’s what happens in case you missed the main ending:
Lionel’s Dynamic Judgement Scene
At the Mina the Hollower ending, there is a tense confrontation with Lionel. The corrupted Baron judges your actions right before the end. His dialogue changes based on your specific choices. But it is all the same message at the end: The Baron is a fraud!
And I think it was obvious right from the start. Baron looks the least trustworthy out of all of Mina the Hollower characters, and that is saying something. Just look at his crooked smirk. That should give him away. But enough sidetracking.
Lionel actively tracks your misdeeds. He will call you out for robbing orphans or failing to save children. He knows if you locked people in tombs to starve. He even points out minor crimes like stealing a ladder or destroying too many candlesticks.

Mina’s Exile and the Post-Credits Scene
After the Baron boss fight, Mina flees the chaos. The enraged public hunts her like a rat. You escape on a boat and sail to a far-off island. You live in exile and leave your friends behind to face the public. The island itself does not blow up.
That looks like the end. But there is also a post-credits sequence where you heal Thorne on his island, which could imply future story sequels (if there is a budget, probably!) Overall, I think the finale was intentionally bleak and horrible to simply avoid being a generic story.

All 9 Credits Region Outcome Cards
When you beat the final boss, and the credits roll, the game plays nine outcome cards that describe what happens in each region in just a phrase. These epilogues show what you fixed or ruined across Tenebrous Isle. Here are the exact outcomes you will see:
| Region | Epilogue Card |
| Astral Orrery | “Seeking a New Frontier” |
| Nox’s Bayou | “The Waters Run Clear Again” |
| Bone Beach | “Plundered and Left in Peace” |
| Queensbury Crypt | “The Catacombs Crumble” |
| Coltrane Peak | “Taming the Frozen Wilds” |
| Hollower’s Guild | “Buried By Blame” |
| Radiant Manor | “Lawless and Leaderless” |
| Ossex | “Chaos Fills The Streets” |
| Septemburg | “Judgment and Justice” |
That’s all you need to know about Mina the hollower endings. Disappointed? Happy? Do you think it was a good ending? I know this is controversial. Let’s discuss this in the comments and see what everyone thinks.
