Amun Ra is the Uber boss that sits in the Tomb of Amun Ra and makes a lot of people question their life choices. He’s not the absolute hardest thing in the game anymore, but he’s still a proper gear and mechanics check, especially the first few times.

About Amun:
Get to Amun Ra Location
Of course, the first thing you should know is how to even find that monster. Just follow these steps:
- Go to Pyramid Floor 1.
- Find the dungeon called Curacan Hollow.
- You need a Curacan Key to open it.
- Inside you’ll find the entrance to the Tomb of Amun Ra.
- To open the tomb you need the Ankh of Eternal Death.
Crafting the Ankh of Eternal Death
You need these three things to craft it:
- 50× Scroll of Ra
- 1× Angelic Key
- 2× Enchanted Sigil (buy these from the vendor in town)
That’s it. Combine them at the crafting station and you get the Ankh.
Farming the Materials
This is where I suffer. Get ready for the most annoying part. As I said, you need 50 Scroll of Ra (it used to be 20 in previous versions, in season 10 you need 50).
The best place to find these 50 is inside Curacan Hollow itself once you have a key. Scrolls drop ridiculously well from the monsters in there.
There’s also an alternative way to find them: Act 3-3 Osarathim Desert. Look for Destruction Altars (the ones that look like broken stone things). Click them and you’ll get red boxes and monsters that drop Scrolls of Ra pretty often.
Chaos Pillars (from the Ether tree) also help a lot if you have Chaos Keys.
Curacan Key
Curacan Key is extremely low drop rate if you’re just running normal maps.
The best method right now is to run Chaos Pillars in Osarathim Desert with the right Ether nodes. They can roll the Dungeon Key and spit out Curacan Keys much more frequently.
If you have zero Chaos Keys, just spam Destruction Altars and hope. Or buy them from the market if you’re impatient (Why not? To be honest, this is my own choice).
Angelic Key
World drop. Just keep playing and one will eventually show up. They’re not that rare especially once you’re in Hell or Inferno.
The Fight: What Actually Happens
Amun Ra is a multi-phase fight with a lot of moving parts, so you may need your best builds when encountering him, especially in Inferno. Here’s the important stuff:
Amun Ra’s Curse
This is the most important mechanic. He puts a timed curse on you that will delete a huge chunk of your max HP (around 80%) if you don’t cleanse it.
When you get cursed, glowing circles (blood puddles) appear on the ground. Step into one immediately. If you cleanse it properly you skip the massive lightning hit that comes after.
Do not tank the curse. Just don’t.
Note: Cleanse the curse. Seriously. This one mechanic is really killing!
Crushing Meteors
Big meteors fall, then split into smaller ones. The big ones hurt a lot. The small ones are annoying but survivable if you have decent HP and resists.
Decaying Walls
Slow-moving walls of mummies that cross the arena. Getting hit by these hurts badly. Teleport over them or find the gaps.
Corrupted Sarcophagi
These spawn adds. Kill them reasonably fast so the arena doesn’t get too crowded.
Heart Phase
At some point the Heart of Amun Ra appears. You can only damage it after the surrounding adds are dead. Focus the adds first, then the heart.
Minibosses
Shade of Thoth, Shade of Sobek, Crocolisk, etc. can appear. They’re tanky but not the main threat if your single-target is decent.
The fight has several phases and the boss has a LOT of HP (especially on Inferno). It’s a real DPS check combined with mechanics check.
What You Actually Need to Survive and Kill Him
Here is everything I know that can help you finish that Egyptian devil:
- Capped resistances (or very close). He applies heavy resist reduction.
- Decent HP pool. A lot of successful clears happen around 4k and 8k HP depending on how tanky your build is. Some people go higher.
- Good single-target damage. Clear is nice, but you need to be able to chew through the boss and the heart.
- Mobility (teleport, dash, whatever your class has) for the mummy walls and meteors.
- Ability to cleanse the curse quickly (just walking into the circle is enough).
You don’t need perfect angelic gear or crazy min-maxed stuff for Hell versions, but Inferno wants real investment.
Amun Ra Drops
Amun Ra drops some very nice unique items, including:
- Crow’s Whisper
- Eternity
- Blood Moon Crescent
- Eternal Death
- Thoth’s Agony
- Finger of Despair
- Amun Ra’s Demise (higher difficulties)
He’s also part of the quest line that unlocks your 5th Relic slot (together with Gabriel). That’s a big reason a lot of people force the kill even if the unique drops aren’t perfect for their build.
