What Are Grapes Used For in the Gothic Remake?

You need grapes to finish Baloro’s quest. In the classic version of Gothic, you just walked up to Wolf in the New Camp and bought them directly from his inventory. Easy! But Wolf no longer carries them. This has left players confused and frustrated. But the good news is, there are many places to grab them for free.

Every Gothic Remake Grapes Location

You have to search high and low to find these grapes. There are grapes scattered across the three main camps. Let’s break down exactly where to look.

New Camp: Wolf’s Hut

The New Camp has a few easy grabs. First, track down Wolf near the tavern area. He occasionally sells grapes directly. You can also break into his hut and loot his chest to find three grapes right there.

New Camp: Haenno NPC

Next, look for the NPC Haenno below the Cord training area. Walk alongside the riverbank for a bit, and you will spot a grape resting on a table right next to the lake.

Old Camp: Castle Kitchen and Wine Cellars

Head into the Old Camp castle first. Check the kitchen where the woman (Syra) cooks to find at least one grape. After that, go to the building where Bullit hangs out. You will find a path down into the Ore Baron wine cellar. Head deep inside and get ready to pick some locks. You will find more grapes locked away in these chests.

New Mine: Swyney’s Chest

Take a trip to the New Mine. Descend just for a bit to find Swyney’s house. Crouch and stick to the house wall to avoid being noticed. His chest is inside, but you need to lockpick to open it. Pop open his chest to grab another grape.

Water Mage Quarters (Chapter 3)

You have to wait until Chapter 3, when you finally visit the Water Mages. Sneak into their dining area at night when no one is around, so you wouldn’t get caught. You can steal a grape right off their table. It is up the first stairs on the left after going through the entrance past the guards. Check out the exact location below:

If you’ve done everything right, you should have all the Gothic 1 Remake grapes you need by now. Do you have more questions? Feel free to ask them in the comments. I’ll get back to you ASAP.

FAQ

Can you buy grapes from Wolf in the remake?

Reports are mixed right now. Many players say he no longer sells them like he did in the classic game. Others claim he occasionally stocks them. Break into his chest instead to guarantee you get three grapes immediately.

How many grapes do you need for Baloro?

You definitely need more than one grape to finish this quest. Loot the three from Wolf’s chest and grab the one from Swyney’s house to be completely safe. This stash will easily cover what you need for the Baloro weapon update.

Do grape locations change by chapter?

Some spots are strictly locked behind your story progress. You cannot reach the Water Mage quarters at the start of the game. You must wait until Chapter 3 to steal the grapes from their dining table.
