Loftia Fish Locations: All 28 Fish and Research Rewards

Loftia fish are scattered across different habitats, so you need to know where to cast if you’re after a specific catch. The Nassau Grouper, for example, is required for the Heavy-Weight Titans bundle, which unlocks Hammer Lv.2. I’d rather check the right spot than waste an afternoon at the wrong pond.
There are 28 catches in Loftia’s Early Access Fish category, including a few creatures that aren’t technically fish. Here’s where to find them, how to catch the rare ones, and which research rewards you’ll unlock along the way.

Where to Find Rare Fish in Loftia
Finding the right area is only half the job. You also need the correct fishing spot.
Loftia has Common, Uncommon, and Rare Fishing Spots. Common spots contain Common catches, while Uncommon spots are where you’ll usually find Uncommon species. Rare spots contain Rare creatures, although a perfect catch at an Uncommon spot can also reward you with a Rare one.
If I were after the Southern Bluefin Tuna, I’d head to the Lake or Deep Lake and focus on the right spot rarity instead of casting at every ripple in sight.
There’s also an Ore Fishing Spot, but it doesn’t provide fish. It contains materials such as Salt and Bauxite Ore. Copper Scraps are another possible catch.
The fishing spots have a 30-second respawn timer, so you don’t have to abandon an area just because a spot is temporarily depleted.
Loftia Fish Research Bundles and Rewards
Catching fish isn’t just about completing your collection. Research Stations need specific species to unlock new recipes, including some useful tool upgrades.
The Central Lake Research Station has six fish-related bundles. The Overgrowth Research Station has another bundle dedicated to cave creatures.
Here’s what each bundle requires and what you get for completing it.
| Research bundle | Required catches | Amount each | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anadromous Odyssey | Allis Shad, Atlantic Salmon, Atlantic Sturgeon, Rainbow Trout | 1 | Project Station Lv.2 recipe |
| Heavy-Weight Titans | Seventyfour Seabream, Nassau Grouper, Giant Sea Bass, Southern Bluefin Tuna | 1 | Hammer Lv.2 |
| Murky Waters | Spring Pygmy Sunfish, Dalhousie Catfish, Moapa Dace, Red Handfish | 1 | Pruners Lv.2 |
| Masters of Disguise | European Mudminnow, Bia Goby, Splendid Toadfish, Leafy Sea Dragon | 3 | Small Hydro Station |
| Still Standing | Japanese Spiky Sea Cucumber, Bahia Brain Coral, Ivell’s Sea Anemone, Sunflower Sea Star | 3 | Small Biofuel Station |
| Land and Lake | Corroboree Frog, Green Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle, Splendid Poison Frog | 3 | Medium Solar Panel |
| Sightless Seekers | Haditha Cavefish, Blind Cave Eel, Texas Blind Salamander, Blind Cave Brotula | 5 | Battery Lv.4 |
Keep in mind that Sightless Seekers belongs to the Overgrowth Research Station, not Central Lake.
Completing Anadromous Odyssey unlocks the Project Station Lv.2 recipe. If you finish the entire first page of Central Lake research, you’ll also earn the Refining Station Lv.2 recipe.
The Bounce Shoes are another reward worth chasing. You’ll need to finish the station’s second page, which includes Heavy-Weight Titans and Murky Waters. The Craftcore and Eco Weave bundles are also part of that page.
Which Fish Do You Need for Hammer Lv.2?
If Hammer Lv.2 is your goal, I’d focus on Heavy-Weight Titans first. You need four different catches from the Lake and Deep Lake habitats.

The Seventyfour Seabream is Common, so it’s the easiest place to start. Nassau Grouper and Giant Sea Bass are both Uncommon. Southern Bluefin Tuna is Rare, which makes the correct spot rarity especially important.
You only need one of each fish to complete Heavy-Weight Titans and unlock the Hammer Lv.2 recipe.
How to Unlock Fishing in Loftia
Before you can catch anything, you’ll need a Collector Rod.
The main quest A Call From the Gardens introduces you to the Hanging Gardens after Certified Flying Loftian. You’ll meet Kassim during the quest and receive the Collector Rod recipe.
To craft the rod, head to a Project Station Lv.1 with these materials:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Rattan | 5 |
| Jute | 5 |
| Plastic Sheet | 1 |
If you’re short on Plastic Sheets, you can craft one from five Plastic Discards at a Refining Station.

The next quest, Fish Are Friends, asks you to show your new rod to Kassim and catch three fish. Return to him afterward to finish the quest and unlock Field Research.
How to Catch Fish in Loftia
Equip the Collector Rod and look for ripples in the water. Hold the tool-use button to aim, adjust your direction, then release it to cast.
Wait for a fish to bite and follow the minigame prompts. You need to press the indicated button while the bobber sits inside the green zone. Each successful hit brings the catch closer, but the next ring gets a little more challenging.

Hit the star for an instant catch. Otherwise, complete the required rings to collect your fish. Not every cast attracts a fish, so don’t worry if the first attempt gives you nothing.
How to Upgrade to Collector Rod Lv.2
Your basic Collector Rod gets the job done, but Collector Rod Lv.2 offers longer reach and can handle heavier materials.
To unlock its recipe, complete Fluffy and Squishy at the Museum Research Station. You’ll need a Used Rubber Duck, Used Lofufu, and Used Fooby for the bundle.

After you have the recipe, use a Project Station Lv.3 with the following materials:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Collector Rod | 1 |
| Carbon Fiber | 5 |
| Vines | 5 |
| Magnets | 2 |
The upgrade isn’t a requirement for every Rare fish. Its main documented advantages are longer-distance casts and the ability to collect heavier materials.
What to Do With Extra Fish in Loftia
It’s easy to end up with more fish than you need, especially if you’re after a particular species for research.
Before you clear out your inventory, I’d check your unfinished bundles. Some require three of each species, while Sightless Seekers needs five of each cave creature.

You can also put fish toward the Fish Repopulation community effort. Its contribution bins are located in the Floating Village, Central Lake, and Overgrowth. Each bin accepts specific requested catches rather than everything in your inventory.
Fish Repopulation affects the number of Uncommon and Rare Fishing Spots available in the Hanging Gardens. At Bad status, fewer of these spots appear. Average provides more Uncommon spots, while Good adds more of both Uncommon and Rare spots.
Best Fishing Perks for Extra Fish
If your fish collection keeps pushing your carry limit, the Fish Bag perks can help.
| Perk | Required level | Carry-limit bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Fish Bag I | 5 | +5 |
| Fish Bag II | 10 | +10 |
| Fish Bag III | 15 | +15 |
There are also two useful proficiency perks to consider.
Second Chance, available at Fishing level 2, gives you a 25% chance to restart the minigame immediately after a failed attempt.
Hungry Fish, available at level 10, makes fish bite 10% faster.
I’d prioritize the Fish Bag perks if inventory space is your main headache. You can focus on the other perks when you want a smoother time at the water.
