The Strange Statues Clue
A lot of people might not have noticed that there’s actually a painting on the rock, which helps you solve the Strange Statues puzzle on your own. If you’re a completionist and want to decipher the puzzle on your own, I’ll show you the Strange Statues clue location and wish you the best of luck on your path.
Southwest of Cotorra Springs, north of Valentine, there’s a rock formation called Window Rock on top of a mountain. That’s where you should go for the clue.
South of the mountain, there’s a path that leads to the top.
As shown in the picture, follow the path.
The painting on the rock wall is your clue.
Cave Entrance Location
If you somehow couldn’t figure it out by yourself or just want to get this done and dealt with, I will show you how the puzzle is solved super duper quickly.
Just east of the Wapiti Indian Reservation, a little bit under the letter I of AMBARINO on the map, lies the path that leads to the cave with the Strange Statues in it.
When you see these two trees, that’s when you have to take a left and follow the path to the cave entrance.
The Strange Statues Puzzle Solution
Enter the cave and go a little deeper until you see seven statues with a harpy statue in the middle. Here’s the correct Strange Statues order:
- First statue: Press the button on the statue immediately to your right when you enter the cave.
- Second statue: Face the harpy statue, press the button on the third statue to your right.
- Third statue: Press the button on the second statue to your left.
- Fourth statue: Press the button on the third statue to your right, the very same statue that stands tall in the light.
Pro tip: If you mess up the order, press the button on the back of the statue to reset it. I’d save the game before entering the cave just to make sure.
When you successfully press the button of the fourth statue in the correct order, you hear a click from the statue in the center. Go ahead and claim your three well-deserved gold bars from the statue. Sell your newfound fortune to any Fence in the game for $500 apiece.
