In Solarpunk, the Airship is your main ticket to exploring new islands. To get your own vehicle, you need a total of 40 Wood, 30 Iron, 6 Cloth, and 1 Crashed Airship Components. You must unlock the dock at the Research table, grab the crashed part from the southeast hill, and assemble everything at the Crafting Table.

Where to Find Crashed Airship Components
The most unique item you need for this project is the Crashed Airship Components. You can find this wreckage early on the starting island. Check your map to spot a high terrain section which is on the bottom-right of the lake. Once you get up there, you will have a clear view of the water below.
You might stuck here because the area is too steep to jump over. So, create your own path.
- Walk downwards and a bit to the left from the water’s edge until you see a pair of short cliffs.
- Equip your hammer tool.
- Use a small amount of Wood to build stairs onto the rocky face.
- Walk up your newly built path and pull the required part straight out of the ruins.
- Mine the extra iron ore deposits you see in this high area, since you will need plenty of Iron for the next steps.
Total Material Costs for the Airship and Dock
Before you can fly, you must complete three distinct phases of construction. Iron is usually the limiting resource in the game, so gather as much ore as you can find. You also need to plant cotton early to guarantee a steady supply of Cloth.

How to Construct the Airship Dock and Vehicle
Once you have your resources ready, it is time to put the pieces together. Follow these steps to finish your vehicle safely.
- Go to your Research table and spend the required materials to unlock the blueprint.
- Move over to your Crafting Table and construct the physical dock structure.
- Carry the dock to the edge of your island. Position it carefully so that 50 percent of the platform extends past the ground.
- Walk up to the small workstation on the completed dock to craft the Airship itself.
Fly, Explore, and Multiplayer Limitations
Now that you have your ride, you can switch between first-person and third-person views to explore. The vehicle does not consume any fuel. You just steer it toward a new island and press the “E” button to dock when you get close enough.
If you fly into obstacles and crash, your ride will take damage. You can fix it by crafting a Repair kit. A single kit requires 5 Iron ingots to make, but it restores the vehicle completely.
Pay attention to the heavy winds at the edge of your map circle. Strong winds will push you back if you try to fly out of bounds. To explore further, travel to the strange hovering structure just north of your home island. There, you will meet TraderBot. Trade resources like copper and watermelons with TraderBot to unlock new blueprints and vehicle upgrades.
Finally, if you play in Multiplayer, you have to remember one strict rule. Co-op mode restricts everyone to their personal flying machine. You will not fit multiple people on one deck, so every team member needs to gather materials and craft an individual transport.
