Silent Hill Townfall The Weight: How to Defeat The Final Boss

Silent Hill Townfall The Weight pays you a couple of visits before the final battle and you have to deal with him differently each time. This guide covers everything you need to know about The Weight: when you can and can’t fight it, how to survive its stalking sections, a trick some players found in the Medical Center, and how the final boss fight actually plays out.

Can You Kill The Weight?

Short answer: not while it’s chasing you. Every time The Weight shows up as a stalker, roaming around and hunting you down, it’s basically unkillable. Running, hiding, or distracting it is the only real option.

The confusing part is that Silent Hill Townfall does have a trophy called “Eraser – Defeat the Weight.” That’s not a contradiction. It just means the only time you actually beat The Weight is during the final boss fight, which plays by completely different rules than the stalking sections. We’ll get to that fight further down.

Encounters with The Weight

You don’t just run into The Weight once. It shows up several times across the game, and each time the message is the same: stop what you’re doing and get out.

  • Your first meeting with it happens early on, in a basement area, and it makes a strong first impression.
  • It comes back later for another stalking section, one that a lot of players call the toughest part of the whole game.
  • It shows up again during a tenser, hide-and-seek style sequence.
  • It appears once more later on, in an even darker part of the story.
  • Finally, it returns one last time as the final boss.

Reactions to these sections are pretty mixed. Plenty of players find them frustrating rather than scary, mostly because of how aggressive and unpredictable The Weight can feel, especially compare to other monsters in Silent Hill.

How to Escape The Weight

During these encounters your only option is escaping. These are some the things you can do:

Use Bottles and Bricks

Throwing a bottle or a brick away from where you’re trying to go is a solid way to distract The Weight. It reacts to noise, so tossing something into a room or hallway you don’t need can pull its attention away long enough for you to slip past.

Don’t Rely Too Much on Lockers

Hiding in a locker can save your life, but don’t expect it to reset The Weight completely. It’s been seen searching around and lingering near the locker or door after it loses track of you, so it doesn’t just wander off right away. If it’s clearly sticking around, you may need to wait longer than feels comfortable, or find another way out entirely.

Know Your Route Before Distracting It

Know where you’re going before you make your move. Wait until The Weight’s back is turned, then walk past it toward your objective. It has a slow wind-up before it starts chasing, so having your route planned out ahead of time gives you a real head start the moment it notices you.

When Running May Be Better Than Hiding

Full stealth doesn’t always work out here. Quite a few players say that once they gave up on carefully sneaking around and just started running from room to room, hiding for only a second before moving again, they actually had an easier time getting past The Weight. It’s not the “intended” way to play, but if stealth keeps getting you killed, it’s worth trying instead.

Can You Trap The Weight in the Medical Center?

There’s a way to lock The Weight in a room inside the Medical Center. The steps look like this:

  1. Trigger The Weight’s appearance like normal.
  2. Run to the room with the hole in it.
  3. Lure The Weight inside.
  4. Leave and shut (or lock) the door behind it.

This isn’t an official mechanic, and it’s not guaranteed to keep working since a future patch could close the loophole. At least one player also reports that The Weight eventually shows back up upstairs once you grab the final blood bag, so treat this as a way to buy yourself some breathing room rather than a permanent fix.

How to Beat The Weight Final Boss

The final fight against The Weight plays out completely differently from the stalking sections you’ve dealt with for most of the game. Instead of running, you actually damage it until it gets staggered, then move in close and pull off an interaction (essentially ripping something out of it) before backing off and repeating the process. You’ll need to do this three times before the fight ends.

Players have used weapons like the Flare Gun and Shotgun during this fight, but there’s no confirmed exact number of hits needed, since difficulty, weapons, and upgrades all seem to affect it.

The Most Effective Weapons Against The Weight

The weapons that stagger him the most are shotguns and flare guns. Your revolver cannot buy you as much as these two can. Around the area you are fighting there are cabinets where you can find some ammunition and other things that might come useful. When you are running away, check those out.

Who is The Weight?

Officially, The Weight is a confirmed enemy in Silent Hill Townfall designed as a tumor-covered, pustuled mass that’s extremely sensitive to movement and can’t be stunned.

Once you get past the official info, the fan theories start piling up. Here’s what players are debating.

What Does The Weight Represent?

The most common interpretation is that The Weight stands in for the guilt and responsibility Simon carries over what happened in St. Amelia. Its design even shows it hunched over by a huge mass on its back, almost like it’s dragging that guilt around physically.

Is The Weight Simon?

This one’s trickier. The game’s ending strongly ties Simon to The Weight, and plenty of players interpret the final reveal as showing Simon connected to, or somehow becoming, the creature. That said, there’s no confirmation that The Weight has been Simon this whole time, walking around as flesh and blood. It’s safer to say the ending links the two closely and leave the exact “how” open, at least until Konami says more.
