Probably Stolen Eleanor Storyline: Care Package, Gifts, and Both Endings

Eleanor’s questline in Probably Stolen is easy to wreck by accident. On Day 28, a guy who says he’s her uncle leaves a free care package on your counter. If you hand it to her, she gets arrested, and her whole story ends right there! Here is how to handle the crate, which gift to pick, and how to get her to the end. I’ll also cover both final choices, because neither one is clean.
Spoiler Alert: This guide covers Eleanor’s full story, including both endings. Proceed with caution!
What You’ll Read:
Eleanor’s Early Visits (Days 23, 25, 27)
Eleanor first shows up on Day 23 in normal story mode (not Endless). She’s an Upper Levels girl whose mother got jailed for embezzlement, and now she’s stuck in a tiny room across from the Commissary. She visits three times before the crate arrives.

| Day | What She Wants | Budget |
|---|---|---|
| 23 | Food | 300 credits |
| 25 | Household goods | 200 credits |
| 27 | Sells you a three-item lot at 50% off | 288 credits |
The Day 27 lot is a Bottle of Spring Water, a Box of PAX Tampons, and a SYNC Neuroactive Perfume. It’s optional. So only buy it if you want the stock. Do have food and household goods in your shop before Day 23, though.

Probably Stolen Care Package for Eleanor Explained
On Day 28, a man calling himself Eleanor’s uncle leaves a free purple crate on your counter. It shows Stolen (100% Heat), and he tells you to keep Security out of it and get the box to her personally. You have three options, and only one is clean.

Report the Uncle (Best Option)
Keep him as the current customer with the crate on the ledge. Then press and hold Call Security. A quick click doesn’t count. Two officers arrive, his name tag flips to Black Market Thug, and they take him and the crate away. You get 50 credits in the one documented Normal run. At her next visit, Eleanor says she has no uncle and gives you a free gift.
If you want to see how other Security reporting choices play out, check the Serpico guide.
Don’t Give the Crate to Eleanor
The second the crate lands on her counter, officers show up and arrest her. She says she’s never seen it, and it doesn’t matter. This happens even if you already fed her and bought her scavenged finds. Waiting for the heat to fade doesn’t help either. She still gets arrested. Her quest ends there.

Keep or Discard the Crate
Holding onto the crate is fine. If you keep it, you will still get Eleanor’s scavenger visits and the investigation. You just miss the free gift from reporting. The stolen mark clears after her scavenging visit, but don’t expect to sell it for the 300 credit base value. Discarding it is probably safe too. If you don’t want to report him, I’d keep the crate rather than delete it.
HydraTech Water Purifier vs. L’ESSENCE Perfume (Eleanor Gifts)
If you reported the uncle, Eleanor lets you pick one free worn gift at her warning visit. Use the left and right arrows, then hit Accept Offer. Here is how they compare:
| HydraTech Micro Water Purifier | L’ESSENCE Pheromone Perfume | |
|---|---|---|
| Condition | 75/300 durability | 3/5 sprays |
| Effect | Purifies water to Basewater, 1 durability per 100 mL (about 7.5 L total) | +25% trading bonus on the current customer |
| Legal status | Legal | Mid-level contraband |
I’d take the water purifier. The perfume boosts one customer at a time, but it’s contraband, so an inspection can cost you. And you only get three sprays. The purifier is safe and useful if you sell water. Grab the perfume only if your shop already runs on contraband.
Pro-Tip: Don’t mix L’ESSENCE up with the SYNC perfume you get at the end. Only that one refills itself.
How to Donate Food to Eleanor
This is the step people miss. After the crate drama, Eleanor comes back with a budget of 0 and asks for free food. You have to give her an actual food item. Her Day 23 food purchase doesn’t count, because that was a sale, not charity.
This visit happens on Day 29 if you skipped the report. If you reported the uncle, it comes three days after her warning visit. So keep one spare food item in your shop before Day 28.
If you refuse, her story ends. If you donate, she thanks you, then comes back about two days later selling her scavenger finds. It’s a low price to keep her story going.
Eleanor’s Scavenger Finds and the 800-Credit Investigation
About two days after you feed her, Eleanor comes back with Dumping Ground finds. It’s mostly junk plus basic materials like scrap metal and wire, sold at around 33% off. Buy them. Her story doesn’t move forward otherwise.
Then she asks for 800 credits to hire an investigator. You don’t pay it all at once. She returns roughly every four days with lots at about 30% off until your payments reach 800 total. Only the credits you actually pay count, not the estimated item value, so lowballing her just means extra visits. The final payment can be tiny. Pay 10 after reaching 790, and the stage is done.

Probably Stolen Eleanor Endings Explained
Four days after you fund her, Eleanor’s investigator finds a data drive on Pastel’s Nutrifruit research. The next day, a Black Market Thug threatens you and offers 300 credits to bury it.

Then you decide.
| Return the Drive | Leak It to the Press | |
|---|---|---|
| Payout | 300 credits | None |
| Eleanor’s mother | Survives, exiled to the Lower Levels | Dies |
| Eleanor | Thanks you | Joins the Revolution |
| Nutrifruit | No change | New seeds can grow more seeds |
Leaking also drops the value of new seeds from 40 to 8 credits. Seeds you already own stay infertile. The Nutrifruit Seed Heist event reportedly ends too.
Two days after your choice, Eleanor says goodbye and gives you the SYNC Self-Refilling Neuroactive Perfume either way. It gives a 15% trade bonus and holds five uses. One use comes back every three nights. It doesn’t stack with other perfumes.
Neither choice is clean, and I don’t think there’s a right one.
That covers the whole Probably Stolen Eleanor questline. Did you return the drive or leak it? I couldn’t pick a side, so I tried both. Tell me what you chose in the comments.
FAQ
Did the Butcher kill Eleanor?
No. The Butcher and Eleanor are unrelated. The satchel and diary belong to a different poor person from the Abandoned Levels.
What if I ran out of food at her donation visit?
You will not see Eleanor for several weeks, perhaps forever! Keep a spare food item in your shop before Day 28. Whether she ever returns after a miss is unconfirmed.
Is the payout 50 or 60 credits?
Those are different events. Reporting the uncle gave 50 credits. You will get 60 after Eleanor’s arrest.
