How to Get Soul Spear in Crimson Desert

Many players struggle to find the soul spear in Crimson Desert. It’s a powerful early-game weapon hidden deep within the antumbra ritual grounds. This icy dungeon is located in the argent peaks, far west of Hernand. The weapon offers a strong base attack of 27. However, you must defeat the enemies in its room and holster your current weapon to actually pick it up.
What we cover in this article:
Best Route to Soul Spear Location
If you haven’t found the dungeon yet, you need to head far west of the Hernand region into the snowy mountains. Prepare anti-cold gear before you go, or your stamina will drain quickly.

Step-by-Step Route:
1. Open Map: Fast travel to the point just above the letter “H” in Hernand on your map.
2. Travel on Horseback: Use a horse to travel west across the high ground. Staying high up saves you from difficult climbing (You can also go from down and climb up if you want).
3. Reach the Entrance: You will eventually see a large downward structure built into the mountain. This is the Antumbra Ritual Grounds (or Tomb of Frozen Souls, according to some community players). Jump and use your glide at the last second to reach the door.

4. Pass the Guard: An Antumbra Warpriest guards the entrance. Run past him and head through the open gate.
5. Ignore the Stone Lamps: As you move inside, you will see stone lamps. Do not light them. Every time you light a lamp, an invincible flying ghost wizard spawns and shoots black missiles at you. These enemies cannot be killed. Just ignore the lamps entirely.
6. Glide Down: Stop when you reach a broken bridge looking over octagon shaped rooms.

7. Find the Weapon Room: Look straight down to find a lit-up room two floors below. Jump and glide directly down to this room to find the soul spear.

How to Fix the Soul Spear Pickup Bug
Many players easily reach the spear but the game does not let them interact with it. The spear glows blue in the center of the room but the pickup prompt is missing. You can fix this issue easily by following these steps:
- Kill the enemies: You must eliminate all the enemies inside that room. You don’t need to clear the entire cave, just the enemies near the spear.
- Sheathe your weapon: You can’t pick up the spear if your hands are full. Double tap the left D-pad button (or your specific hotkey) to put your current weapon away.
- Interact: Walk up to the spear again and the prompt will finally appear.

Soul Spear Stats and Special Effects
This weapon is highly recommended for the early game. It delivers a cool finishing move that releases six magic missiles. However, it lacks upgrade options for the late game.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Weapon Type | Two-Handed Weapon (Unique) |
| Attack Damage | 27 |
| Defense | 0 |
| Refinement | 0 (Cannot be upgraded) |
| Abyss Slots | None |
| Special Effect | Shoots soul projectiles forward after finishing off a weakened enemy. |
| Cooldown | 10 Seconds |
This spear is incredibly strong when you first find it. A 27 base damage without any upgrades is top tier for early zones. The visual effects of the soul projectiles are also fantastic. Because you can’t refine it or add Abyss slots, you will eventually swap it out for better gear later in the game.
FAQs
Can you refine or upgrade the Soul Spear?
No, you cannot. Unique weapons that do not have the little orange slashes under their stats cannot be refined. What you see is what you get.
Do I need the whip to climb the mountain and reach the entrance?
No, the whip is not strictly required. You can reach the entrance by staying on the high ground, jumping and using your glide ability to drop down to the door.
Why are the flying enemies constantly killing me?
You probably lit the stone lamps. Lighting the lamps summons invincible flying monks that shoot magic bolts. Reload your save and avoid touching the lamps.
