How to Complete Chapter 2 Challenge 6 in Halloween: The Game (No-Alert Run)

Halloween: The Game Chapter 2 Challenge 6 asks you to finish Main Street without alerting anyone. Simple objective, nightmare execution. The challenge got so many complaints that IllFonic patched it twice in one week. The problem is that even a clean-looking grab can fail you if the NPC says a single voice line first, whether or not they ever actually see you. But I found a new solution (and it’s not killing myself). Here’s how to beat it.
What You’ll Read:
What Chapter 2 Challenge 6 Requires
Chapter 2, “Main Street,” has six optional challenges, and Challenge 6 is the stealth one: finish the chapter without letting anyone reach an alerted state. That’s it!
Which means every extra kill you go for ruins everything. Anything beyond what the story forces on you, such as killing the snooker player across the street or chasing down a randomly highlighted resident, doesn’t help this challenge; it only adds another chance to get spotted or heard. Keep your target list to what’s required: Eric, Tanya, and Rachel.

Why You Keep Failing Challenge 6
Here is what you need to look out for: an NPC can fail you just by speaking a line when you get close, even if they never turn around and never see you! If you walk near Eric, Tanya, or Rachel at the wrong moment, a stray comment counts as an alert on its own.
This explains why players keep failing with both popups showing on every target: the popups track how the kill landed, not whether someone spoke first. It might be intentional or a bug. My theory is someone on the dev team had beef with the game’s voice actors.
The fix isn’t a checklist. It’s timing: get to each target during a window where they have no reason to talk.
How to Take Out Eric, Tanya, and Rachel Without a Voice Line
Here are the perfect windows to kill each of the targets when they are not talking:
Eric (Hardware Store)
Stalk Eric up to Tier 3 before you commit. To be honest, this doesn’t guarantee silence, but it’s the safer approach. Once he heads into the stockroom, let him start his sweeping animation before you move in. That’s the window where he’s least likely to say anything. Grab him from behind as soon as you’re in range instead of waiting around; the longer you linger nearby, the more chances he has to comment.
Hide his body once he’s down. Getting through Eric cleanly also gives you a checkpoint, so if you butcher (figuratively!) Tanya or Rachel later, you can restart from here instead of restarting the whole chapter.

Tanya (Music Store)
Cutting the power gets Tanya to walk outside, which is usually the plan. But she says a line as soon as she gets close to the breaker, and that line counts against you even if you’re nowhere near her. You have to execute her before she reaches it.
There are two ways to do this: wait until she’s near the front of the store and walks out that way, then grab her from behind a car outside, or shape jump straight into the shop and take her before she starts heading for the power. Either way, the goal is the same. Get to her before she opens her mouth.

Rachel (Cemetery)
Skip the obvious spots. Grabbing Rachel while she’s leaning on a gravestone tends to fail, and approaching her while she’s smoking by the car almost always triggers a line, likely because you’re audible on the pavement leading up to it. Stalk her to Tier 3 if you can before she turns a corner, then shape jump in behind her at a quieter moment and grab her fast.
Hide her body afterward. There are NPCs still moving around the area, and a body in the open can undo a clean run just as easily as a bad grab.

Chapter 2 Challenge 6 Reward
Completing Challenge 6 unlocks Eric Dunn Hair 3. Every other Chapter 2 challenge rewards an outfit or glasses tied to a specific kill. Challenge 6 breaks that pattern since it’s chapter-wide rather than target-specific, which is likely why it pays out a hair unlock instead.
Also, if you finish every single-player challenge in the game, you also unlock the Ghost Michael Myers skin.
Not Getting Credit Bug Fixes
Make sure you’re on version 1.0.2 or later (console update 1.010) and restart the game. IllFonic specifically says a restart is needed for the patch to apply. Beyond that:
- Restart from checkpoint, not the menu. Nailing Eric locks in a checkpoint. If you mess up Tanya or Rachel afterward, restart from there instead of replaying the whole chapter.
- Use chapter select if you need a full redo. You don’t have to restart the entire campaign to retry Main Street.
- Change one thing at a time. If a clean run still doesn’t work, don’t change everything. Adjust just one thing, like your timing or your route, so you know what made the difference.
- Don’t chase popup requirements. Surprise and Stealth Kill are useful as a rough gut-check that your kill landed clean, but they’re not what the challenge is actually grading. A voice line beats them every time.
Some players still report missed credit even after doing everything right, including on Xbox Series X. If that happens to you after a genuinely clean run, it’s likely a residual tracking issue rather than something you did wrong.
By now you should have finished Chapter 2 Challenge 6 in Halloween: The Game. Are you still having problems? Let me know what they are in the comments below.
FAQ
Do you have to hide every body?
No. The game marks Tanya’s cleanup as optional in the HUD, and players have gotten credit while leaving her body out in the open.
Does difficulty level affect Challenge 6?
No. Players report success and failure on both Normal and Hard.
Is Challenge 6 still bugged after the patch?
Patch 1.0.2 fixed a confirmed bug where certain executions falsely counted as alerts, and IllFonic says completion is now far more consistent. Some players still report missed credit afterward, so it’s not fully resolved, but you can succeed if you avoid triggering a voice line.
