How to Find Halloween: The Game Special Targets (Patch 1.0.1 Update)

Special Targets in Halloween: The Game are the NPCs Michael needs to kill or Civilians need to protect for bonus points. If you reach Bloodthirst Tier 1, Special Targets are revealed, and you can track them throughout the map. If you are a Civilian, it is your job to protect them and convince them to follow you to safety. Keep reading to learn the best strategy to exploit Halloween The Game Special Targets.
What You’ll Read:
What Are Special Targets
Michael tracks three groups of people to kill:
1. Special Targets, who are worth the most points if you get them before they escape.
2. Low-priority residents, who are worth less but there are more of them, so they make easy early kills.
3. The actual human Civilians whose whole job is helping the first two groups get out alive.
Michael’s goal in a match is to simply kill every resident of Haddonfield. But he also starts with a list of three Special Targets, specific NPCs that offer much higher rewards if you kill them before time expires.
It’s not just Michael’s win condition, either. If a Special Target escapes before he gets there, the Civilian team banks those points instead. It is basically a tug of war.
You can check their names in the top-left on your HUD. Every Special Target kill (and every escape) gets called out on the map with a notification banner naming the target.

How Michael Finds Special Targets
If you reach Bloodthirst Tier 1, Special Targets are revealed. Stalk any early NPC to Stalk Tier 3, then take the environmental kill (gives more XP). That single kill maxes your XP and pushes Bloodthirst to Tier 1 in one move.
The moment you hit Tier 1, enter Shape Jump and look for gold pillars of light rising off houses across the map (like the picture below). Those pillars mark exactly where the three Special Targets are hiding, and if a target moves, so does its pillar. You can even use them to catch a target already being escorted toward an exit.

How to Kill Special Targets Fast
When you play Michael, you have to be stealthy. Stay in Shape Jump for most of the match, ignore the other players early on, and go straight for the three Special Targets before anyone else gets to them. Nail this, and you’re basically guaranteed the win, unless you get arrested by the police.
Note: If Civilians already have a target moving toward an exit, don’t panic! That same gold pillar tracks a moving target, so follow it and Shape Jump in to catch up. Shape Mines planted near escape routes work as an early warning too and trip the moment someone gets close.
Special Targets usually stay inside homes, unaware anything’s wrong. Once a gold pillar leads you to one:
1. Circle the house in Shape Jump until you spot the power box, marked by a green light.
2. Slash the power box with a weapon instead of just flipping it off. Damage forces Civilians to track down a repair kit rather than just switching it back on.

3. Leave the phone box alone. This will make the target call the police, but phones are everywhere on the map anyway, and a target who is on the phone is too distracted to notice you coming.
4. Wait a beat. Sometimes the target steps outside to check the power, handing you a free stalk and kill. Otherwise, re-enter Shape Jump and press up against a locked door or window to phase through.

5. Never enter a lit house in Shape Jump. You can only exit Shape Jump in darkness, and you’ll get stuck.
6. Search the dark house while staying in Shape Jump. NPCs can barely see at night, so you can get close before exiting to stalk. Stay behind the target, since a spotted target runs, and a chase wastes precious time you don’t have.

Pro-Tip: Don’t worry about doing Stalk Tier 3 on the target itself. Speed beats XP here. An environmental kill is a nice bonus, but eliminating fast is what actually matters. Aim to clear all three within the first 10 minutes for the smoothest path to a win and earn those Killer Tokens.
How to Protect Special Targets as a Civilian
Here’s everything you need to do: Find and hide Special Targets before Michael does, warn nearby residents, get multiple escapes ready at once, call the police to force the Police Van into play, avoid fights you don’t need, then evacuate everyone once an exit opens.
Personality is the stat that matters here. It governs how well you can convince a resident to hide, call for help, or follow you, and a low-Personality Civilian is significantly worse at saving Special Targets. If you’re picking traits, Dreamer (makes residents harder to stalk) is a direct counter to Michael converting a located target into a kill.
As I mentioned before, moving a target doesn’t mean they are off the hook either. Once Michael hits Bloodthirst Tier 1, a light pillar marks wherever a Special Target is, hiding spot or mid-escort, and that pillar moves right along with them. So he is always chasing you.

Special Targets in Story Mode
Special Targets exist in the six-chapter Story Mode campaign, too. These characters are in fixed spots below:
| Chapter | Target | Location | Execution Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | Tanya | A-Side Music Store | Stalk to level 2, cash register kill |
| 2 | Rachel | Graveyard | Stalk to level 3, environmental kill |
| 3 | Thomas | His garage | Stalk to level 3, Weight Bench execution |
| 3 | Marcus | Fleeing to his bike | Cut the phone line first, then Motorcycle execution |
| 3 | Jennifer | Fixed spot, doesn’t move | Grab and take to the campfire |

FAQ
Can Special Targets call the police on Michael?
Yes. Leave a target’s phone box intact, and they can call it in, though a target mid-call is too distracted to notice Michael sneaking up, which makes the call a good excuse to strike.
Does the match end once all Special Targets are dead?
No. Killing all three doesn’t end the match; Michael moves on to the rest of Haddonfield afterward. But clear them within 10 minutes, and you’re basically guaranteed the win, police aside.
