Bodycam Zombie Mode: Status, How It Worked & What’s Next

Well, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Unfortunately, Zombie Mode in Bodycam is temporarily disabled.
With the big Locked & Loaded update that dropped in early September 2026, Reissad Studio turned the mode off (sad!).
Their reason? A few technical regressions hit it during the big rework and the team felt the mode had gotten a bit stagnant. Instead of leaving a half-broken version live, they pulled it so they can bring it back stronger. Target window? Halloween 2026.
So no, it’s not gone forever. It’s just on ice for a bit.

What Zombie Mode Actually Was
For those who never got to try it (or need a refresher): It was a classic round-based co-op survival mode. You could jump in solo or with up to three friends (max 4 players). The goal was simple: survive as long as possible against endless waves of zombies while unlocking more of the map.

Two maps existed:
- Asylum: the original one that launched as a Halloween 2024 surprise. Tight multi-floor interior with generators, locked doors and that classic “oh crap the power just went out” vibe.
- Village: the bigger outdoor map added later in 2025. Abandoned French village with a full day/night cycle, church, cemetery, mines and more space to breathe (or get overwhelmed).
You activated generators to open new areas, scavenged weapons from crates, dealt with special infected and eventually faced bosses. There was even a quiet crossbow that only existed in this mode, perfect for taking out specials without ringing the dinner bell for the entire horde.
No fancy “escape the facility” ending. Just pure survival. The longer you lasted, the better.
Stuff That Worked (And Will Probably Still Matter)

Even though the mode is offline right now, a lot of the fundamentals are worth remembering for when it returns:
- Generators are everything. You usually only get to turn on one main generator per wave (plus a couple of special ones). Timing and priority matter.
- Sound is deadly: Loud guns attract more attention. The crossbow was king for specials and bosses because it stayed quiet.
- Ammo economy is real: You can’t just spray forever. Good teams control fire and share resources.
- Know the funnels: Asylum especially rewarded holding tight doorways and stairwells instead of running around like headless chickens.
- Village plays differently: More open ground means different positioning and more respect for the night cycle.
These habits will almost certainly still apply when the mode comes back, even if the maps or systems get some polish.
What’s Officially Coming

Reissad has been pretty clear: they want to reintroduce Zombie Mode in better shape for Halloween. They’re treating it as their experimental lab, a place to test ideas that sometimes later help the main multiplayer side. No wild promises about brand-new maps or crazy systems yet, just a commitment to bring it back stronger instead of half-fixed (or they just want to keep something in the pocket to reveal again when the hype dies down!)
What You Can Do While Waiting

Get comfortable with the new loadout system and the Trenches map in regular multiplayer. Sound discipline and movement matter in both modes. Knowing the best guns in the game will also help a lot.
Keep an eye on the official Bodycam Steam news and ReissadStudio. When they drop the Halloween update, you’ll want to know day one.
I’ll update this page the moment Zombie Mode is back online with whatever new changes they ship. So, don’t forget me, Torin, who was one of the first ones writing about zombie mode in bodycam. Come back later and read every new detail here.
