Fatekeeper First Boss Guide: How to Beat Minotaur

The first boss in Fatekeeper is the Minotaur, and he’s one annoying boss. He’s considered one of the toughest encounters in the game. You probably can’t beat him if you don’t use the right build. Here’s how to beat the Minotaur for good.

Preparations for Minotaur Boss

To better prepare for this frustrating but manageable first boss, make sure to combine Bitter Tongue Paste and Stone Root Glue in order to craft the fire weapon coating. This adds 16 additional fire damage for 30 seconds. Choose the Burning Axe or simply the Hatchet of Swiftness for some attack speed.

The next step is to ensure you stock up on health potions and mana potions made from Blue Dog Bane. Just Sustain your resources throughout the encounter. This is a lifesaver.

Now, here are a couple of changes you should make to game settings. Firstly, rebind your dodge key to a mouse button or the left Alt key. This results in significantly smoother movement, which makes your life a lot easier. Secondly, lower your shadow graphics settings to Medium to resolve input lag during the fight.

Fatekeeper Minotaur Best Builds

Your success in this fight is heavily tied to how you spent your skill points, as the game’s design can make the boss significantly harder for certain builds.

Melee Build: If you’ve invested in the melee damage branch, you have a much easier time, as increased physical damage allows you to kill the goblin minions in only two hits and makes the boss fight significantly faster.

The Level 6 Pivot: If you went down the magic or utility path and are struggling, you can reach the other branches once you hit level 6. At this level, you receive two skill points, which allows you to reach the four Wisdom nodes (which grant +2 HP/Mana). Once you have those nodes, you can begin progressing toward the other branches.

Mage Limitations: If you spec entirely into the mana/magic tree, the boss is extremely difficult because he’s immune to almost all spells. While you can use fireballs for limited damage, magic feels significantly less effective than melee for this encounter.

Regardless of your specific route, you should definitely invest in Fortitude early on to gain health, as it provides a necessary safety net for the high damage this boss deals; otherwise, this boss fight becomes unnecessarily harder. How to Beat Minotaur Boss in Fatekeeper

You start out cornered with three annoying goblin minions holding spears. Don’t rush the boss. Just circle in the room to keep your distance. First things first: take care of the goblins. Use Telekinesis to pull them toward you and eliminate them safely. You can use your fireballs, too. Alternatively, you can let the boss accidentally kill them with his own wide swings if you keep your distance.

Now, the Minotaur is the one you should be dealing with. He relies on unpredictable, aggressive moves. When he puts his head down to run, you can’t block it. Stand near the spike walls to bait him into crashing, then hit him two or three times before backing away.

Remember, when he roars, it’s time to jump because he’s about to stomp, which damages you. Don’t bother trying to run out of range. You must jump over this attack.

When the Minotaur reaches 50% health, he becomes more aggressive. You can’t run away from his axe swings. If you do that, it will likely get you killed. A single hit from him can easily wipe out half of your HP. Staying far away after the goblins are down is risky.

Stay close, dodge to the left when he swings, hit once, use a kick to knock him down, and hit again. Repeat the cycle. A perfect dodge will briefly stagger him.

Telekinesis is your friend. Pick up dropped spears around the arena and hurl them at him. You can also hit him with two or three ice spells, which slow him down momentarily. It goes without saying that when you throw poison vials at him, it keeps his health ticking down passively while you should focus on dodging.

At the end of the day, I know the fight is certainly a serious skill check, but don’t get greedy and try to learn his patterns. If you do that and use the melee build I discussed earlier, you’re going to beat the Fatekeeper Minotaur boss in no time.
