What you will read
Mina the Hollower Maxi Location
You’ll face this rival hollower in the Grasslands on your way to Ossex. This boss fight can be super duper tough if you’re not prepared or don’t know what to expect.
There’s no doubt Maxi is one of the hardest bosses so far, maybe even harder than the Duchess boss. This slippery little devil is extremely aggressive. Right off the bat, you can walk past Maxi and continue to town or other areas to buy upgrades and explore more before the fight.

When you do decide to fight her, to better prepare for the Maxi boss fight, be sure to have multiple trinkets and trinket slots so that the odds get in your favor. Always remember that whip or sword weapons work best for safe poking. Hammers are usable but difficult for landing charged attacks. Daggers at Attack Level 3 have also proven effective if you want to play aggressively.
Here’s a pro tip: A healing spring is located just a few steps to the left of the boss area, making repeated attempts easier.
Maxi’s Attacks and How to Dodge Them
Maxi jumps around the arena like a freaking maniac, which honestly makes her movements hard to predict. However, you can see landing spots in advance.
Nightstar Attack
Maxi pulls back the Nightstar (with a longer reach than your starting version) before thrusting it forward in a straight line. To dodge these attacks, just get out of her direct sight in any direction.
Throwing Axes
Maxi throws multiple axes, typically 3 to 5 per throw, that cover a good distance. She can follow you while throwing, so they won’t always come from one direction. Keep moving and create distance to dodge them. This is one of the safer windows for quick attacks or healing after the axes land.
Chain Swing
When the Nightstar catches on the ground, Maxi uses it as a grapple point and bounces around swinging the chain. That’s when you have to get as much distance as possible. The chain has significant reach and deals damage if it lands on you, so be extra cautious.
Exploding Balls
Maxi throws out small round balls that spread across a wide area of the battlefield. Just run backward immediately when you see them. After the beads explode, you can burrow beneath them for safety. This is one of the best times to attack or heal.

Remember that contact damage and Maxi’s speed are what will piss you off the most during the boss fight. But worry not. Persistence always pays off. Just bear everything that I said in mind. You’ll take care of her in no time. When you’ve finally beaten Maxi, you get an upgraded Trinket Bag, which improves your inventory. You can then freely head back to Ossex town.
