Who Started the Fire in Life Is Strange Reunion?
As a Life Is Strange fan, I was not surprised to find out the answer to this question, which is: There is no fixed answer. Just like many other events in the story, earlier choices and consequences determine who will be the arsonist.
3 fires happened that faithful night in the Admin Building, Abraxas House and the Observatory. The culprit will either be Ren or Vinh and interestingly enough, their motivations are both tied to a tragic event from 1995.

It all goes back to a teenager who accidentally died at an Abraxas Society party in 1995. To protect the school’s reputation and especially its academic leader, this secret was kept hidden for decades. That teenager was Ren’s father, and the leader in question is Yasmin Fayyad, Safi’s mother.
But that’s not the whole story. It could be neither of them, too! The third culprit is Safi. But I’ve put her in a category of her own, and you’ll find out why. You can stop each or all fires. Keep reading to learn the whole story.
Who Started the Admin Building Fire?
Ren Landry tries to set the Caledon University on fire from the admin building. I think Ren’s motivation should be clear by now. He is avenging his father after holding a deep, decades-long grudge against Caledon University and the Abraxas secret society for covering up the truth of his father’s death.
While heading to watch the protesters, Max may see Ren trying to set the society’s headquarters (the Fremont House) on fire as Noelle tries to stop him. Depending on your past choices, Noelle may succeed or fail.

Who Started the Abraxas House Fire?
Vinh has the opposite motivation from Ren. He is an Abraxas member who has been secretly hiding evidence of the 1995 death. His motive is to protect the reputation of the university and specifically Yasmin Fayyad.
Vinh eventually becomes too desperate to keep these secrets buried and burns down the Abraxas House and the Abraxas Box to make sure Yasmin is protected forever.

Who Started the Observatory Fire?
This is probably the most shocking plot twist of Reunion. Even if Max and Chloe successfully stop the “arsonists” (Ren or Vinh), a fire inevitably breaks out at the Observatory! This time, the culprit responsible for this final fire is Safi Llewellyn-Fayyad. But it’s not what you think.
Even if you stop the fire caused by Ren or Vinh, you will see Safi lighting a cigarette and dropping it into a trash can before entering the Overlight with Chloe Price. This seemingly small act eventually ignites the entire building.

FAQ
Who is the real arsonist in Life Is Strange Reunion?
There isn’t just one answer! The person who starts the fire at the university depends entirely on the choices you’ve made throughout the game, meaning it could be Ren or Vinh in your specific timeline. However, the final fire at the Observatory is always caused by Safi’s accidental actions.
Can you stop the fire from happening?
While Max and Chloe can successfully intervene to stop Ren or Vinh from burning down the Abraxas House, the fire at the Observatory is inevitable. Even if you “save” the school from the primary suspects, Safi’s discarded cigarette will always trigger the final blaze.
What was the motivation behind the university fire?
The motives are rooted in a dark secret from 1995 involving the death of a teenager at an Abraxas Society party. Ren wants revenge for his father’s death, while Vinh is desperately trying to destroy evidence to protect the university’s reputation and Safi’s mother, Yasmin.
Is Safi a villain for starting the fire?
Not exactly. Unlike Ren or Vinh, Safi doesn’t have a “motive” to burn anything down. It’s a tragic accident caused by her dropping a lit cigarette into a trash can, proving that even small, careless actions can have massive consequences in the world of Life Is Strange.
How do my choices affect the culprit?
Your interactions with the characters and the evidence you choose to uncover lead Max to focus on different suspects. Depending on your path, you will either catch Ren or Vinh in the act of attempting arson.
