Ledge Hang is back in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, but a lot of players can’t get it to work. You jump at a ledge and your Operator just climbs up. It matters more now because the Krait P68 camo needs kills while hanging. Here is how the move works, what players say helps, and where to test it.

How to Ledge Hang in MW4
Ledge Hang is an official MW4 move. Once you are hanging, you can Hang Shimmy which means moving left or right along the ledge. Another thing you can do is Hang Lean which allows you to aim down sights and turn 360 degrees. Climbing Jump is another possible thing which means jumping in any direction. The last one is Climb or drop which means leaving the ledge when you are ready.
To Ledge Hang:
1. Find a pipe, a tall ledge or a shipping container.
2. Jump at it.
3. If the spot allows it, your Operator grabs on and stays. If not, you climb up.
Some players also stop sprinting before the ledge, let go of forward movement after the grab, and pick taller ledges.
MW4 Ledge Hang Not Working: Common Problems and Fixes
Many players have the same problem. The biggest issue that bothered me and many other players is that the Operator often automatically climbs onto a surface instead of remaining suspended.
These are the solutions found so far:
- Pipes: Climb a pipe on a tall building, then reach for a ledge next to it. You need to move from the pipe onto a ledge, not just climb the pipe.
- Shipping containers: One player said you can jump at almost any shipping container and stay hanging.
How to Practice Ledge Hanging in the Mobility Course
The Mobility Course is a training area with guided tutorials and timed runs. Its on-screen prompts follow your control settings, so you see the real buttons for your keyboard or controller. Use it to learn what the prompts look like before you try in a match. That way you don’t have to guess the inputs.
MW4 Krait P68 Off Grid Camo Challenge
The Krait P68 pistol has a special camo called Off Grid. You need kills while ledge hanging:
- Multiplayer: 15 kills against players while ledge hanging.
- DMZ: 50 kills against enemies while ledge hanging.
At first, 15 kills might sound very easy until you notice that most maps have bad ledges. They are not in ideal places for hanging and killing your opponents. Also according to some reports by players on Reddit, kills on ladders and pipes don’t count. You should find actual ledges to hang from.
Best Locations to Test Ledge Hanging
The first location I suggest is Lotus, Boathouse pipe. The official map notes mention a climbable pipe outside the Boathouse that leads to the lower roof and second floor. Try going from the pipe onto a ledge. My other suggestion is Cachette, central shipping containers. The map has container paths in the middle, and apparently containers let them hang.
