Castlevania Belmont’s Curse Family’s Grace Relic: What Can You Do With It?

Family’s Grace is a special relic in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. You can’t find it in the game world, and it isn’t part of the Standard Edition. I’ll tell you how to get it, what it does, and if it is worth the extra money.
In This Guide:
How to Get Family’s Grace Relic
Family’s Grace comes with the Midnight Edition ($39.99). The Standard Edition ($29.99) does not have it. There is no quest, boss or chest for this relic. You only get it by buying the right edition.
After you bought the Midnight Edition (digital or physical), open Equipment, then Relics, and equip Family’s Grace in one of your three relic slots.

The relic is added to your list when the bonus pack is installed. On Switch, the Midnight bundle lists this pack as its own download, next to the Sound & Art Gallery.
What Does Family’s Grace Do?
Family’s Grace is a silver locket with the portraits of Rose’s parents, Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. In battle, it works like a free shield:
- When Rose takes damage, the hit is blocked.
- All nearby enemies freeze.
- The cooldown is 60 seconds.
It only works while it sits in one of Rose’s three relic slots.
Is Family’s Grace Worth Using?
Before launch, nobody knew what this relic did, and Steam players had lots of guesses. Some thought it was only a collectible or a small stat bonus. One said it would not matter after the early game, and another worried about missing out on it. When the real text showed up, one player said it sounds too strong and that they would just not equip it.

Here is my take, based on the description:
- It is a good safety net. A free block plus a freeze can save you in a boss fight or a room full of enemies. It is a nice pick for new players.
- It is not a build-changer. It only works after you get hit, and 60 seconds is a long wait. It also takes one of only three slots.
If you want to use all three slots for damage or movement, skip you can skip this relic. If you want an extra life in hard fights, keep it equipped. If the relic is your only reason to pay for Midnight, it is a small reason. The costumes and the gallery are part of the price too.
Can You Get Family’s Grace Without the Midnight Edition?
No. The Standard Edition does not include it, and on launch day no store sold it alone.
Steam players noticed this before launch. They said they might have to buy the whole Midnight Edition later, and Konami has not said it will sell the extras by themselves. If you want the relic, it is safest to buy Midnight from the start. Some Steam players said they found it for around $30 during a sale on another store.
