Castlevania Belmont’s Curse Portrait of a Vampire Lord Puzzle Solution & Bernhard’s Wrath

If your mighty vampire hunter, Rose Belmont, needs to strengthen her equipment, you should definitely go for the Bernhard’s Wrath legendary gloves. This fist weapon has an attack rating of 100 and adds the ability: “The more you hit enemies, the more weapon damage you deal.” The type of whip attack is an uppercut, and it heals Rose as you do more consecutive damage to enemies. To reach this item, you need to solve the Portrait of a Vampire Lord Puzzle.

The puzzle itself is quite simple. All you need to do is travel to the mid-left side of the Hall of Mirrors, in a location called Delived Level. You can follow the direction I’ve put on the map to get there easier using the secret areas. Once you are teleported to Level Deviled, you have to defeat different types of enemies in an arena battle using dash attacks and Chronomantic Dive. Then you get to claim Bernhard’s Wrath.

How to Solve the Portrait of a Vampire Lord Puzzle

Travel from the area’s Ferryman’s Wharf (in the In-between area of Hall of Mirrors) down and to the left. This place is called Delived Level. Check the location on the photo I’ve put of the map.

Here, Rose has to kneel at the transition mirror, then the screen will start shrinking and forming a pattern of tiny shards of a mirror.

You are teleported to an arena battle in Level Deviled on the other side of the map, on the east side.

Castlevania Belmont's Curse Nove Skeleton and Lance Knights and Peeping Eye

In here, you’ll face several enemies: Peeping Eye – Nove Skeleton – Lance Knight – Flying Sword – Blue Knight – Werewolf. If you’re struggling to survive the arena fight, the Castlevania Belmont’s Curse Family’s Grace Relic can help by blocking a hit and freezing nearby enemies. However, it’s only available with the Midnight Edition.

Dash attack is the most frequent attack you’ll be doing here as most enemies are flying (like Peeping Eye and Flying Sword) and the ones that aren’t like (like Blue Knight and Lance Knight) require dodging their attacks. Use Chronomantic Dive whenever you can to damage multiple enemies at once.

Who is Bernhard?

The gauntlets are a direct reference to Walter Bernhard, the vampire lord who antagonized Leon Belmont in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. In fact, this is all related to the puzzle, since it’s named the Portrait of a Vampire Lord Puzzle.

Alex fell in love with video games at the age of 4, when his father bought him his first PC. He considers video games to be the upgraded version of the best books: a form of interactive art. His love of RPGs comes from the fact that he can spend hours immersed in a fictional universe and make choices that have meaningful impacts on the story. As a child, Alex would often spend hours trying to figure out the side quests in random games. There were no internet guides back then, so he knows exactly how frustratingly confusing or borderline impossible games can get. He intends to dedicate himself to saving other gamers from suffering the same fate.
