Risk of Rain 2 Prime Meridian Guide: How to Survive and Beat False Son (October Update)

Prime Meridian is the final environment on the Path of the Colossus in Risk of Rain 2. It’s a lovely little vacation spot where the sky tries to zap you and False Son waits at the end to ruin your day. If you understand Lunar Ruin and get yourself ready for the final scrap, you’ll have a much easier time getting through it.
This guide goes over what the stage actually does and the October 8, 2026 patch changes and the choices waiting for you after False Son eats dirt.
More About Prime Meridian:
What Is Prime Meridian?
Well, Prime Meridian is the final stage of the Path of the Colossus, added with the Seekers of the Storm expansion. You’ve got floating platforms, lightning that hates you, Aurelionite Geodes and the arena where False Son throws hands.
And what should you do there? Get through the stage and reach the boss. On the way, you can poke around for items and mess with geodes, which give you some handy defensive help.
How to Survive Prime Meridian in ROR2

Lightning is always one of Prime Meridian’s main challenges. Get hit, and you get Lunar Ruin, a debuff that makes every follow-up hit hurt worse.
Each stack of Lunar Ruin makes you take 10% more damage and cuts healing received by 20%. Stack that a few times and suddenly every little enemy sneeze feels like a truck. Keep an eye on your health and your stacks as you move. If you’ve got a pile of Lunar Ruin, find a nearby Aurelionite Geode and clear that junk before you keep going.
Don’r worry, I read the October 8, 2026 patch and devs have changed the lightning visuals so it’s clearer that the damage hits a cylindrical area, not just the ground near the sparkly impact point. So no, standing on a slightly higher platform doesn’t automatically save you now. The lightning does not care about your elevation.
A real practical rule: Treat every lightning strike as a soft timer. If you take two hits in a short window, stop exploring and immediately head to the nearest geode. Three or more stacks of Lunar Ruin turn even basic enemies into serious threats.
Use Aurelionite Geodes

Aurelionite Geodes are interactable objects along the route. They’re basically little defensive pit stops.
Crack one open, and it creates an area that clears your debuffs and gives you a barrier equal to 50% of your max health after a short delay. Just walk into the area once it pops to get the goods.
Geodes don’t turn off the stage’s lightning. They’re not an off switch for the sky. Their real value is wiping Lunar Ruin and giving you a temporary shield buffer. Use them when you need to clean off debuffs or get ready for a rough fight. If you’re exploring, keep track of the geodes you find, because cracking all of them along the route also gives every player an Aurelionite Fragment.
Balance Exploration and Survival
Prime Meridian has items and interactables worth grabbing, but you don’t need to vacuum up everything before fighting False Son.
Check your health and your items. Check whether you can actually handle the enemies nearby before you go hunting for extra loot.
If the lightning is cooking you or you’re sitting on a fat stack of Lunar Ruin, surviving matters more than one more chest. Mobility helps a ton with the floating platforms, but what works best depends on your Survivor and whatever build you’ve stumbled into.
False Son Boss Fight: How to Prepare

False Son is the boss waiting at the end. Before you walk into that mess, check your health and Lunar Ruin stacks. If there’s a geode nearby and you need the defensive boost, use it before you start the fight.
During the fight, watch False Son’s attack animations and move accordingly. Don’t assume a busted build or huge damage will save you from getting clapped.
The best strategy depends on your Survivor and gear, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Learn his timing, dodge what you can and stop eating unnecessary hits.
Pre-fight checklist: I recommend health above 70%, Lunar Ruin at 0–1 stacks, at least one geode left unused, mobility skill ready.
Keep Your Distance
Stay at mid-range and save your mobility skills for after he dashes at you. If you get too far away, he’ll dash into you. If you’re too close, you eat club slams. Mid-range keeps you safe from both.
Cover is Important
He summons Stone Golems and gains a laser attack. Always know where your nearest pillar is. When you see him charge up the laser, get behind cover immediately.
A pro tip: position yourself so False Son is between you and a pillar. That way, the pillar blocks the laser while you can still shoot him.
Save Your Geodes
This is the big one. In the final phase, he has an ability that completely locks out all your skills and that’s why I hate this final phase.
The only way to clear this debuff is to crack a geode. Save at least one or two geodes for this phase specifically. When you see him stand still and raise his club, start heading toward a geode so you can cleanse the lockout the second it hits.
False Son Changes After October 8, 2026 Patch

The October 8 update fixed a handful of things with False Son and the boss arena. It’s much more fun to deal with now.
Dash Behavior
The patch fixed an issue where False Son could overshoot during his Phase 1 dash if he had bonus movement speed. It also swapped out some hidden invulnerability during the dash for a small armor boost.
Even with the patch, this attack can wreck you. Keep your distance in Phase 1 and save a movement ability to dodge sideways when he commits to the dash.
Club Slam
False Son’s club slam got some adjustments too. The patch toned down how aggressively it tracks you, lined up the hitbox timing with the ground impact and added damage fall-off to the explosion. Before this change, it was too much I’d say. Many other players where agree with me and devs finally listened to the community.
These changes make the attack more consistent, but be aware, it can still hurt. Watch the animation and react. Don’t act like the patch turned it into a gentle breeze.
Boss Arena Platforms
The update also fixed an issue that made the boss platform behave differently during the intro cutscene depending on frame rate (it was stupid!). It also corrected cases where the outer rings didn’t fall at the intended speed between phases.
These are technical fixes to how the arena works. They don’t mean you can stop paying attention during the fight.
Does Beating False Son Mean Beating the Game?

Good questoin. Once False Son is down, you get to choose what’s next.
If you’re grinding for Monsoon skin, beating False Son and then choosing the Shrine of Rebirth counts as “beating the game” and unlocks the skins.
However, if you beat False Son and then continue through the Destination Portal without also beating Mithrix or Voidling, you only get the False Son skin, not the Monsoon one. So if skins are your goal, end your run at the shrine.
