If you jumped into a WARDOGS Infantry mode server expecting nothing but boots on the ground, you probably figured out that the name can be a little confusing. Community servers using the Infantry Only preset can still feature things like Humvees, logistics vehicles, FOBs, mortars and some helicopters, which has already started plenty of discussions among players. I myself had the same question at first: what does Infantry Only actually remove?
Here’s how the mode works and why it isn’t quite as “infantry only” as the name suggests.

What Is WARDOGS Infantry Mode?
Infantry Only is available through community servers, rather than being a separate official matchmaking mode. WARDOGS already separates its browser into Official and Community servers, with filtering and text search available on the community side.
Community hosts also offer dedicated Infantry Only servers that include the ones built specifically around infantry-focused combat.
Is Infantry Only Really Infantry Only?
Not exactly. Infantry Only removes much of the heavy vehicle focus, but it does not turn the match into pure foot combat. Humvees, logistics vehicles, FOBs, mortars and certain helicopters can still be available, while heavier combat options are restricted.
That was the part that surprised me most: the preset reduces the emphasis on heavy combined-arms combat, but it does not automatically turn WARDOGS into a match with only soldiers on the battlefield.
Why Are There Vehicles in Infantry Only?
Because Infantry Only is not a blanket “no vehicles” setting. The preset restricts the heavier combined-arms side of WARDOGS while leaving some lighter vehicles and support systems available. That means vehicles such as Humvees and certain helicopters can still be used alongside infantry, depending on the server’s configuration. Community-server admins can also apply their own rules on top of the preset, so an Infantry Only server can be more restrictive than another.
How to Find WARDOGS Infantry Mode Servers
Open the Community section of the WARDOGS server browser and search or filter for Infantry Only servers. The developers have already improved community-server discoverability with separate Official and Community browsers, text search, and more reliable filtering.
Just keep in mind that individual community servers can offer different experiences, so checking the server name and rules before joining is worthwhile.
