Halloween: The Game Lantern: How to Find & Use It

In Halloween: The Game, the Brass Lantern is one of the three mysterious items alongside the Ancient Amulet and Fragile Hourglass, which can help you manage the spooky approach of Michael Myers. Further down this article, I’ll tell you how this item breaks the Michael Myer’s Shape Jump invisibility and what’s the best way to use the Brass Lantern.

What Does the Lantern Do in Halloween: The Game?
The Brass Lantern is designed to counter one of the cool abilities of Michael, his Shape Jump. This ability allows him to go invisible and move faster through the map, now if you don’t have the Brass Lantern, Michael can easily sneak up on you.
To counter it, you just need to light up the Brass Lantern to make him visible as a small dark shape. It’s more like an early warning kind of tool that enables you to spot him and don’t get caught completely by surprise.
I’ve also seen it claimed that a lit lantern blinds Michael and stops him from shifting out of the Shape Jump, similar to a Flashlight or Road Flare, but I haven’t been able to reproduce that consistently myself.
However, it is not an unreasonable mechanic altogether, since Michael can only enter or exit Shape Jump in darkness and lit areas make him glow and slow down.

Where to Find This Mystery Item?
The usual place to look for the Brass Lantern is flat surfaces like desks and workbenches rather than inside drawers or cabinets. It gives off a faint glow when you’re close, which makes it easier to spot.
How to Use the Lantern?
Pick it up and light it while staying near your teammates. The Brass Lantern can also be thrown, but I wouldn’t suggest doing so.
It’s most useful when you or your teammates need to stay put for a while in situations like repairing a car, holding an exit open or covering someone while they finish an objective. Having it lit up close to your group gives you a heads-up if Michael is approaching you in Shape Jump.

What Happens When You Drop It?
If you die while carrying the Brass Lantern, it doesn’t disappear. It drops at your death location and other survivors can pick it back up. Dropping it also lets off green smoke, and honestly I don’t think that smoke actually does anything. The real value of the Brass Lantern is in carrying it lit, not dropping it on purpose.
Does the Brass Lantern stun or damage Michael?
Not that I’ve seen. It doesn’t stun him, doesn’t damage him and won’t save you if he’s already standing right next to you.
Where does the Brass Lantern spawn?
You can usually find the item on visible flat surfaces like desks and workbenches inside buildings, not inside searchable containers.
