Welcome to the most unhinged seat at your Round Table. Chester isn’t just a knight, he’s a walking coin-flip in a funny hat who somehow made it onto the payroll. If your court feels too serious, too competent, or too clean, this is your guy.
Note: In my own run, I had my own choices and my own outcomes. So to make this guide as complete as possible, I gathered every reliable piece of information about Chester from communities and other players’ experiences.

How to Recruit Chester in Sovereign Tower
Accept The Clean Keeper Goose from Chester in Milkford (Act 1). Send Angelica on Part 1. This has unexpected Outcome because she is an animal lover (anywaym, required for the reliable follow-up). On Part 2, match the egg clue:
- Shiny/valuable eggs: Send Gwendan (unreformed).
- Bad/weird smell: Send any knight equipped with cheese.
- Delicious/appetizing aroma: Send any knight with a Horse mount.
In the final dialogue avoid the dismissive You’re Welcome path. He joins then.
Who Even Is This Man?
Sir Chester (Chester the Jester, the Jester Chester, Knight Jester of the Realm) is a Milkford local who shows up smelling like he hasn’t bathed in fifteen days. Why? Because a war goose seized the public baths and declared itself sovereign.
He’s dramatic, chaotic, slightly unhinged, and completely convinced that only a real knight can solve the goose crisis. You can send a knight to solve his problem or give him gold to help him forget about the goose.
Stats & Attributes
Here are his most unique traits:
- Level: 15 (he arrives already maxed)
- Armour: 6
- Stats: Completely random. Every single time the game checks a stat, it re-rolls between 0 and 15. Strength, Agility, Charisma, Magic, Wits, Luck, all of them. Every check.
Hidden attribute: He enjoys all quest types. Every assignment gives him +1.0 affinity. Because of Happy To Be Here, he never gets mad about the kind of quest you send him on. He just likes being included. Absolute golden-retriever energy.
Favorite Meals
Chester has the most democratic taste in the entire game (unlike a knight like Victoria). He likes all six meals:
- Galette-Saucisse
- Croque-Monsieur
- Préfou
- Crêpe
- Brizhian Butter Shortbread
- Lion’s Taco
Feed him anything and you get the full +1.5 affinity and +0.5 quest score bonus. He’s one of the easiest knights in the game to keep happy with food.
Special Outcomes
Chester has unique results on two quests:
The Great Duel (Almora): Send Chester to receive 200 gold and the Almor Shield. He becomes the new Count of Almor, but this permanently removes him from your active roster, so do not choose this outcome if you still want to use him on quests.
There’s also a Chester testimony knight quest in Tower City, but it’s mostly just flavor.
How to Actually Use Chester
Every knight, including Chester, will shine in the situations he was made for:
- Affinity tank: Because he likes every quest type, he’s one of the safest knights to keep around long-term. He won’t resign easily.
- Gambling tool: Need a specific high stat for a threshold? Send Chester and pray. Sometimes he rolls a 15 Strength for a fight. Anyway, Sometimes Chester rolls Wits 3 or lower and triggers The False Bank’s special branch, but that result costs 2 Nobles, so it is useful only when you deliberately want that outcome.
- Comic relief & story spice: He’s pure personality. Even when he fails spectacularly, the writing is funny.
Anyway, don’t build your entire strategy around him. He’s the wild card you throw in when you can afford the risk (or when you just want to watch the world burn a little).
Quick Tips
Here you go, all the remaining tips you need:
- Recruit him early. The goose quest is easy to miss if you’re rushing.
- Keep feeding him. He loves everything, so it’s free affinity.
- On important quests, send him with backup so the party can carry the load when he rolls poorly.
- If you’re doing a “collect all the weirdos” run, he’s mandatory.
- Never trust the numbers you see on his character sheet. They’re already outdated by the time you look away.
Chester is what happens when the developers decided the Round Table needed a professional agent of chaos. He’s not the strongest, not the smartest, and definitely not the most stable, but he will make your playthrough memorable as hell.
