Where’s the gold bar in Limpany? Upon entering Chapter 2, you, Arthur Morgan, very soon realize that you have no money and you know what that means in the Wild West. You arrive at your Horseshoe Overlook camp hideout, which is just south of the lovely town of Valentine, at the beginning of Chapter 2.
Head south of your camp to the town of Limpany. As you can see in the picture, it’s located north of Flatneck Station.
When you get there, you can see there are a couple of burned-down buildings, the sheriff’s office being one of them. That’s where you want to go.
Get in the office. There’s a lockbox under the desk to your left. Inspect it and get one shiny Limpany gold bar of yours as well as a Special Horse Stimulant pamphlet. Simple as that.
Does the Limpany Gold Bar Glitch Still Work in 2026?
Yes and here’s how you can do this glitch in simple steps:
- Go to Limpany, to the sheriff’s office. Find the lockbox with a gold bar under the desk.
- Open the box and look inside. Don’t take anything. Leave it open and walk away.
- Make a manual save then reload that save. You’re gonna spawn somewhere near.
- Go back to the same box. Only take the gold bar and leave the box open. This is very important.
- Save and reload again. Return to the box.
- You can see the box is empty, but there lies a gold bar next to it. Pick up the gold bar.
- Repeat. Never close the box or it stops working.

Limpany Gold Bar Respawn Time
You don’t even have to do the glitch. The gold bar in the Limpany lockbox can respawn, though it’s not guaranteed for every player. When it does, it typically takes about 10 or more in-game days to reappear. Just remember to leave the lockbox open or it stops working.
