Moon Sweepers Packager: How Capsule Packing, Logistics & Automation Work

If you’ve recently delved into DragDrop’s Moon Sweepers, you’ve probably progressed far enough that now you’ve stumbled on one of the most confusing items in the game: The Packager. The Packager is a $100 Logistics structure unlocked via the Building Tool.
Because it doesn’t have an item description, I had to learn on my own that Packagers help with the automation by handling and packaging loose or processed lunar dust through your conveyor belts into capsules for transport and depot delivery. If you’d like to better understand how Packagers fit into Moon Sweepers’ automation system and whether it is worth to use it all, stick around and find out.
All you need to know:
What Does the Moon Sweepers Packager Do?

As the game itself states: “A Packager takes your dust [when you interact with it using E] and sends it out in capsules over a conveyor belt.” If you want to learn more, there are some more important tools and structures in our Moon Sweepers Guide that you can read up on.
This means Packagers are actually super helpful in automating your dust-processing chores. They receive the dust from your broom and send it (via conveyor belts) to Pressure Chambers and Rock Presses. So instead of dumping my broom load into a depot wall, I transferred it to the Packager. The Packager then converted my loose dust into capsules that could move on conveyor belts.
From there, the capsules went straight to the Pressure Chamber, turning each capsule into 3x Moon Sand. Alternatively, when I sent them to the Rock Press, I got 7x value Moon Rock for each capsule.
How to Unlock the Packager

Simply navigate to the Logistics tab and the first item you’ll see is the Packager, next to Merger and Splitter. If you haven’t unlocked the Logistics Tab, all you need to do is pay the $50 to buy the Building Tool. Inside that tool is the Logistics tab. Each Packager you want to build costs $100.
How to Package Lunar Dust

At the beginning of the game of the game, you probably just collected dust off the ground and pressed Q to turn each 1.0 kg of dust into a portable Dust Capsule. As you progress a bit more and gain a little bit of that good ol’ money, you’re going to want to buy the Packager.
The Packager will receive your dust and immediately start pumping them out in packaged capsules. If you gain even more money and buy the Robot Vacuum Mk1 or Mk2, now you’ll see your cute little robots gather the dust themselves and turn them into capsules and places them onto a connected conveyor belt when the robots returns to their pad.
Finally, when you get super ultra rich, you can purchse Joonas. The handy (pun intended) 6-armed autonomous sweeper, Joonas (worth a whopping $20,000) goes around the entire Moon collecting dust from the nearest hex and automatically packs moon dust. Afterward, it fires dust capsules through the air into the nearest Capsule Catcher.
How to Check Your Packager Setup

First off, test the Packager setup you have in mind in a small area instead of building an enormous conveyor network around it. Trust me, I learned that the hard way.
Do not place a Packager, Pressure Chamber, or Rock Press across the border seam where two Foundations meet. I did this the wrong way in my first attempts and then I learned the launch build blocks machine placement across foundation edges, so placing my Packager directly on cleaned lunar ground proved to be much more reliable.
Furthermore, make sure that your Packager and all downstream machines sit inside the 16-meter wireless radius of a Fixed Solar Panel or the 34-meter wireless radius of a Sun-Tracking Solar Panel. Because solar panels hold no external battery of their own, check your power readout during lunar daylight to ensure total solar generation exceeds your factory’s draw. This way internal machine batteries recharge before nightfall reaches your moon base.
Packager vs. Pressure Chamber

Some players might get them confused. The Packager and the Pressure Chamber are two totally different entities. They, however, work together. You connect your Packager to a Pressure Chamber via conveyor belts so that the capsules you send from the Packager to the Pressure Chamber will turn the moon dust into moon sand.
Why is the Moon Sweepers Packager Not Working?
Actually, before you go and blame your Packager, check your conveyor belts. Try watching the route from beginning to end. If an item is moving correctly until it reaches a different tool, check that piece. It’s most likely the actual culprit, not the Packager.
Is the Packager Worth Buying?
Oh, absolutely! Look, for $100, you get a helping hand that directly receives the dust you (or your vacuum robots) collect and delivers it in capsules to other places. Early to mid game it might seem like it’d be a waste, but further down the line you’ll realize its true value as it makes your life a lot easier.
