Dispatch: ‘Glass Him’ or ‘Let It Go’ Choice Explained

When you reach Episode 7 (“Retrospective”) of Dispatch, things get tense at the Sardine. Robert is already having a bad time. The Bartender starts running his mouth and insulting Blonde Blazer. The game throws a timer on the screen with two options: [GLASS HIM] or [LET IT GO].

Spoiler Warning: You only know the guy sitting next to you as Beard Guy right now, but he is actually Shroud.

If you are just looking for the quick answer, the Bartender dies no matter what you do. Shroud executes him regardless of your input. The only real difference here is how Robert reacts and how it impacts your background stats.

What Happens If You Choose GLASS HIM?

If you pick [GLASS HIM], Robert snaps. He slams his drink into the guy’s face. Shroud then jumps the counter and finishes the job with a gunshot. This route adds a +2 to your Antihero Counter.

What Happens If You Choose LET IT GO? (Or Do Nothing)

If you choose [LET IT GO], Robert just sits there. You get this exact same passive outcome if you let the timer completely run out. Shroud acts surprised that you showed restraint. He actually brags about being great at predicting people before shooting the guy from his seat anyway. This specific line is an early clue about his powers that makes perfect sense later in the game. Plus, it bumps up your Hero Counter by +2.

I should note that I have seen some early wikis claim the passive option gives zero points. I definitely got the +2 hero bump in my playthrough, so it might depend on the specific patch version you are running.

The Wolf Among Us Easter Egg

Why is this choice even a big deal in the community? It comes down to a inside joke.

The developers at AdHoc Studio used to work at Telltale. Back when they made The Wolf Among Us, players got into a very similar bar argument. A prompt appeared saying [GLASS HIM]. Half the player base thought this meant pouring the guy a friendly drink to calm him down. Bigby Wolf instead grabbed a bottle and violently smashed it over the guy’s head.

It turned into a meme. People were terrified of that specific button.

This time, they made the violent intent obvious. Robert is furious. The camera shows his hand bleeding from gripping his cup so hard. You know exactly what you are doing if you press it here.
