Romance

The Witcher 3 Main Romances: Triss or Yennefer?

Though there are many romance candidates in the game, The Witcher 3 only has two main options for Romance: Yennefer of Vengerberg and Triss Merigold of Maribor. While there are two primary romance options in the game, there are also Side Romance options and Prostitutes that Geralt of Rivia can pursue.

You can either romance Yennefer or Triss, but you cannot successfully romance them both simultaneously. Sure, the game leads you on into believing you’re doing a great job at handling both women, but after helping both Sorceresses at Novigrad, they’ll trick Geralt into thinking he’ll be loved by both. Meanwhile, it’ll only result in Geralt getting chained to a bed by both Triss and Yen, and leaving Dandelion to later come free him.

Yennefer Romance

Yennefer is technically Geralt’s canonical love interest, but the game still gives you a choice between her and Triss. Throughout the trilogy, this is the first actual time we see Yennefer in the game (besides that one ending cutscene of Witcher 2). Yen’s romance is linked directly to two quests: 1. The King is Dead – Long Live the King and 2. The Last Wish.

If you want to make sure you won’t fail to impress this blackhaired beauty’s haert, you should know picking the right dialogue options is essential. There are some more details regarding The Witcher 3 Yennefer Romance that I recommend you read up on.

Triss Romance

Triss has been a romance option in the previous games as well. She kept Yen a secret from Geralt after his amnesia. She wanted Geralt to herself, but after he got his memories back, things got a bit complicated between the two. The two main romance quests related to Triss are: 1. A Matter of Life and Death and 2. Now or Never.

In order to successfully win this redhaired lady’s heart, you have to pick the right dialogue options in the appropriate sections. And don’t lock in a romance with Yen. There are some more nuances as well to The Witcher 3 Triss Romance that you should be aware of.

Romancing Both Yennefer and Triss

Just… don’t. Or do if you dare.

Seriously, if you decide to go down this path, you’ll soon realize it won’t end up on such a romantic note. The game lets you fall into this sense of security that you can successfully pursue both women, but as you’re half-way through, they’ll confront your Geralt at Novigrad after you’re done with the Sunstone quest.

They’ll “seduce” Geralt and then chain him to the bed. Then they’ll just leave. Geralt ends up relying on the kindness of Dandelion, as he is the one who finds Geralt like this and rescues him.

Alex March

Alex fell in love with video games at the age of 4, when his father bought him his first PC. He considers video games to be the upgraded version of the best books: a form of interactive art. His love of RPGs comes from the fact that he can spend hours immersed in a fictional universe and make choices that have meaningful impacts on the story. As a child, Alex would often spend hours trying to figure out the side quests in random games. There were no internet guides back then, so he knows exactly how frustratingly confusing or borderline impossible games can get. He intends to dedicate himself to saving other gamers from suffering the same fate.
