Shift at Midnight The Entity Explained: A Complete Survival Guide

If you’re reading this, you probably got arachnophobia (fancy word for being scared of spiders) from Shift At Midnight the Entity. You had a 60-second warning before this stopped being a job simulator and turned into a horror game. This spider shows up if you’ve let a doppelganger slip past. Learn how to survive Ron Weasley’s worst nightmare in this Shift At Midnight guide.
What You’ll Read:
What Triggers the Entity
If you let one doppelganger walk out of the store alive, the Entity arrives at the end of your shift. That’s the basic rule. But there’s a trap that catches people: If you charge a doppelganger for their purchase before you shoot them, that counts as a failure and is the same as letting them escape.
So don’t let people wander off mid-transaction. And if the screen turns blood red, the attack is guaranteed no matter what you did during the shift. Complete a transaction with a doppelganger on a Blood Moon night, and you’ll get hit even harder.

Shift At Midnight the Entity Mechanics Explained
Under the horror, the Entity is basically a spider. It has eight legs sprouting from a human-shaped body, and it is as blind as a bat. It can’t see you, but it hears everything, your mic included! So stay quiet.
Watch the eye icon on your screen. That’s your line-of-sight indicator, and it fills the longer the Entity can “see” (sense) you. If it turns red, he starts hunting for real. In that case, duck behind cover fast enough to reset the meter and have more time to reposition.
The patience bar up top works as its health and its patience timer combined. If you damage or outlast it by hiding, its patience decreases, and it gives up for the night.

How to Survive the Entity Attack
Once the timer starts, you’ve got about 60 seconds before it breaks in. Barricade all three entrances, front, back, bathroom, by nailing planks with E. Also, drop traps while you still can. Don’t waste the whole time on one door.
Vents around the stockroom and shop floor work as hiding spots, but they’re not a long-term plan. A mass of flesh eventually drops through and forces you back into the open. Use them to buy time, not to wait it out entirely.
Once the patience bar reaches the halfway mark, you’ll have access to stronger firepower, but only for weapons you already bought on the computer beforehand. Buy heavy before the shift ends, not during the hunt. Once the bar drains, the Entity retreats and tries again another night.
The Entity’s biggest weakness is fire. So a Flamethrower or Molotov works a lot faster than bullets do. But honestly, the easier strategy is to hide and stay quiet until he webs off.

Note: The Entity spider is tougher to kill if you let more doppelgangers through during the shift.
Other Enemies (Bosses) With The Entity
Doppelgangers you miss don’t always come back as the Entity itself. Depending on the night, you might get one of five other variants that tag along. Here’s how to deal with each:
| Entity | Description | Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Shrieking Doll | Small, crawls along the floor | Kill with traps or melee |
| Demented | Long-limbed, moves fast when unwatched | Look at it to freeze it, look away to lure it into a trap |
| Marionette | Cloaked, floats around | Rewind the music box before the song finishes three times |
| The Dentist | Disguised as the break room corpse | Run, stay off the mic, don’t look back |
| Camouflage | Blends into the stockroom wall | Shoot or hit it; the jumpscare doesn’t cost health |
Note: Blood Moon nights can spawn more than one of these alongside the Entity. So check any notes or emails before your shift starts. They usually tell you exactly what’s spawning that night.
How to Avoid Ever Facing the Entity
The easiest way to survive the Entity is to never trigger it. That means catching every doppelganger during the shift itself, not after. Check their appearance and information with the computer. For example, if a customer says they’re a mechanic but the ID says teacher, that’s your cue. The database never lies.
Always keep this golden rule in mind: deny service first, then execute if you’re certain. Never process the payment and shoot afterward.

FAQ
Can you kill the Entity for good?
No. Draining its bar makes it retreat for the night, not disappear. It comes back stronger if more doppelgangers get through later.
Is the Entity really blind?
Yes. It can’t see you at all, but it tracks sound, including your mic. So staying quiet is safer than staying still.
How many doors do I need to barricade?
Three: the front, the back, and the bathroom. All three need planks before the timer runs out.
