Servant of the Lake Matcha Latte: How to Unlock the Serving Matcha Latte Achievement

If you’re looking up the Servant of the Lake matcha latte, you’re after the hidden “Serving Matcha Latte” achievement on Day 1. This task comes after Aldous’s morning routine in the Exercise puzzle, once the guests arrive and Alexandra shows up. The method is simple, but it only works if you do one thing before the game expects you to. Here’s how it works, plus what to do when the green powder never shows up.

What the Serving Matcha Latte Achievement Is

Serving Matcha Latte is one of the 49 Steam achievements in Servant of the Lake. It can be acquired in the “Serving Tea” task on Day 1, after Alexandra arrives. It’s optional, and nothing in the story blocks you if you skip it, which is why so many players miss it on their first run.

How to Get the Matcha Latte in Servant of the Lake

  1. Start the Serving Tea task on Day 1. Go to the room on the left.
  1. Tap on her and after the conversation get the sugar. Then tap on the desk and collect the tea. Now tap on the heater and collect the kettle with hot water.
  1. Go to the previous room to the cat and give it some of the tea first. Then tap on its neck three times until it throws up the sticky substance. Collect the sticky substance.
  1. Now tap on the door at the end of the room, then do this again.
  1. Go to the staircase on the right, pick the cup above the cupboard.
  1. Now prepare a normal tea for her. Give her the cup and put some tea, hot water (with the kettle), some milk and sugar in it.
  1. After she drops the cup, you have to put the pieces back, the put the sticky substance to it to glue the cup.
  1. Check the wooden crate behind Alexandra. Along with the cat’s mess, there’s now a small pile of green powder (the matcha powder). Pick it up.
  1. Add it to Alexandra’s drink along with the normal tea.
  1. Serve her the cup. The achievement unlocks.

The Green Powder Doesn’t Replace the Tea

This is the mistake that costs most people the achievement. The green powder is an extra ingredient, not a swap. Alexandra’s drink still needs the regular tea, plus hot water, milk and sugar.

Also, don’t panic when she drops the cup. That’s part of the normal puzzle and happens no matter what you serve her, and the achievement can still pop from the drink she already tasted.

If the Green Powder Isn’t in the Crate

If the crate is empty, it’s because the cat threw up before you fed it any tea, and there’s no way to undo that mid-task. You’ll need to replay this part. The good news is that finishing the game unlocks per-episode replay, so you don’t have to restart the whole story for one achievement.

You Did Everything Right and Nothing Unlocked

This one is worth knowing because almost nobody mentions it. Rusty Lake had achievement sync problems around launch, and version 1.6.0 was released to smooth them out, so check you’re on the latest version first. If achievements still aren’t syncing to Steam, or you’re seeing missing items and corrupted saves, the developers have asked players to contact Rusty Lake support rather than resetting their progress.

Did the green powder show up in your crate on the first try? Let me know in the comments.
