Mistfall Hunter Skills: Complete Class-by-Class Breakdown

Mistfall Hunter skills are tied to your weapon, not to a class ability list, which is why most players get stuck on their first few runs. Change the weapon and half your kit changes with it. Bellring Games launched on July 30, 2026 at 01:00 UTC and the patch affected every class, so beta guides are already out of date. Everything below is based on the latest launch version.
What You Find in This Guide:
How Mistfall Hunter Skills Actually Work
Your weapon decides your skills. Each stance has its own skills; for example a Mercenary’s Hammer skills do not appear while Sword & Shield is out. You swap stances mid-fight, but you are swapping into different buttons. Not every class has both stances live yet:
| Class | Weapon Stance at Launch |
|---|---|
| Mercenary | Sword and Shield, Hammer |
| Shadowstrix | Dagger, Dual Blades |
| Seer | Catalyst, Mace |
| Withered Knight | Greatsword, Polearm & Shield (new) |
| Sorcerer | Staff only |
| Blackarrow | Bow, Javelin |
Important Note: You cannot swap Seer’s weapons mid-fight. Seers can only use weapons corresponding to their current faith
Only the Knight’s second weapon made Season 1; the Blackarrow’s arrives in a future season. So a guide selling you “Blackarrow javelin builds” is describing something you cannot equip.
Base and derived skills are different. Derived skills for instance follow-ups, counters, air strikes and post-dodge hits have data entries but take no slot. 24 entries is not 24 slots.
Talents are where builds get made. Branches are often mutually exclusive, so two players running the same base skill end up with different versions of it. It seems there are eight talent points across twelve levels, unofficially.
Energy was rebuilt and dodging is free. The Exhaustion penalty is gone and dodge runs on its own charge system, so beta advice about conserving Energy is basically useless. Three resources exist: Energy, Psionic Energy (Reverent Seer) and Curse Mana (Blasphemer).
Breakaway is your panic button. The third pillar of combat, for when you are stagger-locked. Its timing does more for survival than any talent choice.
Mercenary Skills
Sword & Shield, Hammer. Durable bruiser, in my opinion still the easiest class to learn.

Earthshaker is the commit button: two charge levels, Super Armor, area slow. Shield Dash pairs with Perfect Parry, whose window widened at launch alongside PvE buffs to Skullcrusher and Shockwave Strike. Impalement got cheaper activation, so you can use it to reposition.
Sorcerer Skills
Staffonly. Elemental reactions, or Stardust, which skips the chant phase.

Forbidden Gate stops enemies and their projectiles while your team shoots through; it wins extraction fights. One launch change dominates the rest: Fire Bolt, Thunderstrike and Meteor Charm now fast-cast with empty Energy and still recover Energy, so the class never goes fully silent.
Blackarrow Skills
Bow only. Charged-shot Archer, or fast-fire debuff Hunter.

Predator’s Senses pings nearby players and gives scent trails, with limited uses. Featherlight Arrow no longer needs a full charge while Splatter Arrow’s Sepsis now does: Archer is the charged build, Hunter the fast build, and mixing them is now a mistake.
Shadowstrix Skills
Dagger, Dual Blades. Stealth, poison and close burst. (In my opinion the hardest class to choose for a beginner)

Shadow Strike leaves an afterimage that attacks and can stun, and gained the new Ambush Momentum talent. The game-changing nerf (That was necessary to be fair): Crow Storm can no longer stack on an already-stunned player, so endless stun chains are dead and your opener has to land.
Seer Skills
Catalyst (Reverent), Mace (Blasphemer). Healing constructs versus curses and pressure.

Binding Rune refunds Psionic Energy when it binds a player, and Death Ward can stop a death outright. Catalyst got faster channels and a bigger enhanced-orb hitbox; Mace got hit, with Shapeshift shorter and slower and Paralysis Curse losing range. The Blasphemer keeps short-range chasing, but the long-distance disengage is over.
Withered Knight Skills
Greatsword, Polearm & Shield (new). Wither, executions and team protection.

The Greatsword loop is stack Wither, then Execute. Thorn Guide pulls normal targets to you, but against something big or protected, it pulls you to them.
Polearm & Shield is the genuinely new thing: longer reach, charge built while actively blocking, ranged teammate rescues, six new skills, and talents that mix with the Greatsword branch. Quick Shield Bash is aggressive; Enhanced Shield Bash peels with area knockback.
Best Skills by What You Want to Do
- Escaping: Mistwalk, Phantom Shift, Smoke Bomb, Shadow Step
- Closing distance: Shield Dash, Impalement, Breakthrough Charge
- Team survival: Healing Rune, Death Ward, Enhanced Sheild Bash
- Lockdown: Gravitational Vortex, Deep Freeze, Poison Crow Mark, Binding Rune
- Holding ground: Forbidden Gate, the best area denial in the game
- PvE: clearing: Skullcrusher, Stardust Tempest, the Wither/Execute loop
- Information: Predator’s Senses and Eye of Insight. (In an extraction game, worth more than damage)
Holy Weapons Change How Skills Behave
Holy weapons are a new tier dropped by map bosses, each boss with its own. Bellring described them as carrying exclusive gameplay affixes that reshape skills rather than inflate numbers, so every skill has three layers: base, talent-modified, and Holy.
I suggest you start with one stance, learn its six or seven buttons properly, then add the second. Which class did you main on launch day? Also if you have tool tips for the Polearm & Shield skills, drop them in the comments.
