The main story of Marvel’s Wolverine ends when Logan, with the help of Shiro and Jean, has finally defeated Essex during the No Coming Back mission. Essex believes the mutant outbreak is only the beginning and claims he’s becoming something greater by taking the X-genes and powers of other mutants.
It would be a cold day in hell before Logan let something like that happen. At this point, Logan realizes that Essex is connected to the massive Helix Sentinel robot that’s attacking the city. Shiro and Jean join the fight and the trio works together to bring Essex and his robot down for good.
After a long struggle, they manage to bring the Helix Sentinel down, which only makes Essex even angrier. But that’s far from over. Throughout the fight, Essex uses abilities he has taken from other mutants like Leech against Logan to defeat him.
But our hero fights through Essex’s illusions and kills him. But before dying, Essex forces pure Helix energy into Logan. And that’s when things get problematic.
Why Does Logan Lose His Memories?
After Essex dies, Apocalypse begins speaking through Logan. Jean tries to bring Logan back and tells him to remember who he is. Logan realizes that Apocalypse’s influence is too strong and asks Jean to deal with it the same way she dealt with the corrupted mutants.
But Jean tells Logan that this is different, that Death is part of him. If Jean burns Death out, there might not be anything left of Logan. But he accepts the cost and tells Jean that she’ll still be there and that’s enough. She then does her magic trick and boom, the two are then taken into a memory of the farm where they once lived.
The sad part about it is that Logan no longer remembers the place or even his own name. Jean tells him that his name is James Logan Howlett.

Everything Jean has told or shown him about their past feels like somebody else’s story rather than something he actually remembers.

The post-credits scene is all about Sabretooth and Apocalypse. This ending, like the name suggests, comes after the credits of the game. Sabretooth has followed Apocalypse because he just can’t get the Apocalypse’s voice out of his head.
He then discovers another intact Helix Engine. Apocalypse tells Sabretooth that they have both “had their fill of Death.” So if we connect the dots here, Logan now is searching for who he was and he knows that Apocalypse has some answers.
Given that Apocalypse is guiding Sabretooth this way, it makes the direction of a possible sequel pretty clear. It might indicate that we’re going to see Logan vs. Sabretooth and Apocalypse.
How to Unlock the Marvel’s Wolverine Secret Ending
There’s also a hidden ending scene that goes much deeper into Logan and Jean’s history. To unlock it, you need to find all 14 Nightmare Doors and earn at least Bronze on every trial. After finishing the story, a secret 15th trial called Best There Is appears in the Nightmare Cabin. Earn at least Bronze there and leave the cabin. Now follow the scent trail to reach the hidden memory.
Logan and Jean’s Secret Ending Explained
She explains that she first met Logan in the late 1800s in Canada. At the time, he wasn’t really the Logan she knows; he was the Shinigami, Death. Jean doesn’t really know how Logan became that way, although she knows somebody did it to him. Rather than kill him, she burned every trace of Death from his mind.
Eventually, Jean discovered the cabin Logan had built. She ran back to the farm because she knew he would follow her there. The memory ends when Logan arrives at the cabin and Jean asks if he wants to come inside. Logan answers, “I’d like that.”

The hidden epilogue makes the normal ending much more melancholic, I’d say. Now when you look at that, Logan leaving Jean isn’t simply the end of their relationship. Their history shows that losing each other and even losing their memories of each other has happened before.
The main ending leaves Logan unable to remember the life Jean remembers. At the very same time, we get to see and learn some of that missing history between them. Logan isn’t staying behind and pretending to be the man Jean remembers. He chooses to leave and figure out who he is now.
We know for sure in the post-credits scene that Apocalypse’s part in the story isn’t completely over by a long shot. Sabretooth has found a Helix Engine and Logan aims to search for answers about his past and Apocalypse.
