Invincible VS Guide | Win 3v3 Matches, Combos & Combat

If you’re playing Invincible VS, you probably don’t want to get your ass kicked as Mark does in the show. This is a 3v3 tag fighter game with fast and brutal mechanics. The team behind Killer Instinct built it, so expect crazy combos and heavy hits. But don’t worry. I’m here to prepare you. Read this short Invincible VS guide to learn the basics and start winning your matches.

Invincible VS HUD and Gameplay Meters

Let’s break down what you see on the screen first. You need to know what you are looking at.

Health and Recovery Bar

Your health bar works exactly like you expect. But pay close attention to the smaller health bar. When you tag a fighter out, they slowly heal that portion which shows their health. Do not bring them back in too early.

If you tag a character back in before they finish healing, that potential health is gone for good. Although opponents can use Enemy Snapbacks, which will force you to switch characters.

Boost and Super Meters

You can find your Super meter at the bottom corners. Deal damage and play aggressively to build this up. One bar gets you a Level 1 Super, and three bars let you do a cinematic Level 3 Ultimate. So don’t just sit and block.

Right under your health is the Boost meter. These are the three yellow bars. Boost is your go-fast button. You use it to close the gap quickly or perform EX special moves.

Invincible VS Combos Meter

This one is crucial. So pay attention to it. The combo meter is a red bar that fills up as you land hits. It is the game’s anti-infinite system.

If you max this meter out, it flashes red. The next hit causes a blowout. The combo drops immediately and gives your opponent a chance to fight back. You have to manage this bar to extend your damage.

Invincible VS Combat Basics

You need to know how to hit people before you worry about crazy team setups.

Basic Attack Combos

The best combat combination to begin with is Light, Medium, Heavy, and Special attacks. The golden rule is to only chain them upward. If you hit a Medium attack after a Heavy one, your combo will be interrupted. This simple combo is called the Magic Series. Try it before going for the complex combos.

Don’t forget to use Heavy attacks too. They are slow but devastating. If you land a Heavy attack, it will send opponents airborne and you can follow up with aerial combos.

Pro-tip: Try jumping in with a Down Medium. It has a massive hitbox (more chance of landing a hit) and is a great combo starter for characters like Mark.

Defense and Pushblocking

By all means, learn how to block in Invincible VS. But you cannot block forever. Blocking special moves and supers still deals chip damage to your health. Press forward and two attack buttons while blocking to perform a Pushblock. This shoves the enemy away to create space.

Special Moves and EX Boosts

You get a dedicated Special button in this game. Combine it with different directions for your special moves. Specials actually allow you to cancel your attack strings. You can land a Heavy attack, cancel it into a Special, and then go right back to a Medium attack.

Hold the Boost button while doing a Special to get an EX move. These cost meter but add crazy properties. EX moves can break armor or extend combos. For example, Omni-Man’s regular overhead drops your combo. But his EX overhead lets you Active Tag and keep the pressure on.

Safe Movement and Super Jumps

Movement is your best defense. Forward and backward dashes have invulnerable frames on startup. You can use them to phase right through attacks. You also have a Super Jump. Tap down and then quickly up to leap high and start aerial combos.

Mastering Team Mechanics

This is a 3v3 fighter. That means your team’s order matters a lot. Pick a Point character to open the match. Choose a Mid character for versatile support. Leave your Anchor for last. They are your comeback specialist with high damage.

Keep in mind that each time you tag, there is a cooldown for tagging. The cooldown is visible on their character icon on top of the page.

Active Tagging for Combos

You can swap characters in the middle of an attack. This is called Active Tagging. It is the key to massive damage. Tagging in a new fighter actually lowers your combo meter but lets you string together much longer combos before a blowout. Watch your cooldowns, though. You cannot spam tags forever.

Pro-tip: Use a Level 1 Super mid-combo to pass the time. Meanwhile, your assists have time to come off cooldown so you can tag them in again.

Surviving with Defensive Tags

Getting trapped in a long combo sucks. Use an Emergency Tag to escape. It costs two full Boost bars. It breaks you out of the enemy’s combo, but it drains 50% of your assist character’s health. Use it wisely.

If your opponent keeps Active Tagging to extend their combos, hit Medium and Heavy together to Counter Tag. However, Smart players will try to bait your counter, so stay sharp.

Best Beginner Team Building

Go with Invincible, Atom Eve, and Omni-Man for a strong starter team. Run Invincible on Point since he is versatile. Put Atom Eve in the Mid slot for healing support. Leave Omni-Man as your Anchor for massive comeback damage.

Chaining Supers (DHC)

You can cancel your Super move directly into a teammate’s Super. It is an easy way to dump meter for massive damage at the end of a combo. Learn at least one DHC route for your team. The community calls this a DHC, or Delayed Hyper Combo, but I call it Double Trouble! So you know, take your pick.

FAQ

Should I use standard or motion controls?

The game gives you two options. Standard controls are easy and use simple button presses. Motion controls use classic arcade inputs like quarter-circles. If you use motion controls, you get a flat damage boost to all of your attacks. If you want max damage, learn the motion inputs.

How do I stop my combo from blowing out?

Watch the red bar on the left side of your screen. When it fills up, your combo drops. You need to use Active Tags. Swap to a new character mid-combo to lower the meter. This buys you more time to extend your attack.

How does Sudden Death work?

If the timer runs out, the match goes into Sudden Death. Both players are forced into a final 1v1 fight. Your remaining team health and meters combine into one pool. Your health will slowly bleed out. You have to land hits on the enemy to stop the drain. It is a race to the finish line.

How should I practice for Invincible VS?

Spend 15 minutes daily in training mode. Practice combo execution for 5 minutes, block mixups for 5 minutes, and punish unsafe moves for 5 minutes. Consistent practice beats marathon sessions.

Should I play Casual or Ranked?

You might be scared of Ranked mode. Do not be. Play Ranked so the game matches your skill level accurately. Save your replays and study your losses to find bad habits.
