Hellraiser Leviathan Explained: What It Does in Revival

Pinhead gets all the attention, but Hellraiser Leviathan is the one calling the shots. That giant floating diamond above the Labyrinth created the Cenobites, and in Hellraiser: Revival, it can kill Aidan without lifting a finger. Not that it has any.

But Leviathan does more than float around looking terrifying. Its judgment is the reason the Unworthy exist, while the Scarlet Church worships it like a god. You’ll also encounter its deadly gaze in the Labyrinth, where one wrong move can send you back to your last save. So, what exactly is Leviathan, and can you actually fight it? Here’s what you need to know.

Who Is Leviathan in Hellraiser: Revival?

Leviathan is the ruler of the Labyrinth, the nightmarish dimension where Aidan Lynch ends up while trying to save Sunny. It appears as an enormous rotating diamond rather than a humanoid monster. Even Pinhead, voiced by Doug Bradley, answers to Leviathan.

Leviathan is also responsible for the existence of the Unworthy. These twisted creatures were once humans seeking extreme experiences, but Leviathan rejected them. Now they hunt Aidan for the Genesis Configuration, hoping the puzzle box might offer them a chance at redemption.

Marlowe’s Scarlet Church takes its devotion to Leviathan to a whole new level. The cult worships the entity and seeks contact with the Cenobites, while Bruno conducts gruesome surgical experiments in its name. Clearly, these people have a very different idea of religious devotion.

What Does Leviathan Do in Hellraiser: Revival?

Leviathan isn’t just a creepy floating diamond watching over the Labyrinth. It also poses a deadly threat during the story, and you’ll come across a puzzle designed in its image.

Leviathan’s Deadly Gaze in the Labyrinth

You’ll first notice Leviathan looming in the distance during the Free Sunny’s Soul objective, while Chatterer keeps showing up to ruin your day. But later, during Hunt Marlowe, Leviathan becomes a much more immediate threat.

In an open section of the Labyrinth, a deadly beam sweeps across the area. Staying exposed to it for too long kills Aidan, so you have to keep moving while solving an environmental puzzle. To escape, head toward the flame near the front of the area and direct it toward the block on the right. You can then move the block upward to reveal a hidden Suffering Pillar, which increases your Suffering capacity. Afterward, redirect the flame to open the exit.

One thing worth remembering is that there’s no checkpoint in this section. If Leviathan kills you, you’ll return to your last manual save.

How to Solve the Leviathan Statuette Puzzle

Leviathan also has its own puzzle during the Escape the Cult objective. You’ll find a golden, diamond-shaped statuette in a red hallway, but it’s missing its top piece.

The missing Leviathan Tip is sitting on a desk inside the security office, east of the large room with the statue. Once you have it, return to the statuette and attach the tip.

Now rotate its three sections until the patterns line up correctly. Solving the puzzle rewards you with the S&M Duckie, which you need to unlock a nearby door and continue through the cult compound.

Can You Fight Hellraiser Leviathan in Revival?

No, Leviathan isn’t a boss you can fight in Hellraiser: Revival. Its major gameplay encounter revolves around surviving its gaze rather than attacking it.

Marlowe is the game’s final combat boss. So if you’re saving shotgun shells for that enormous floating diamond, you can stop. It’s not interested in a fair fight anyway.
