Castle Blackburn Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis Guide & Review

Castle Blackburn is one of the toughest late-game stages in the original Kingdom Rush, which serves as the final level of the Curse of Castle Blackburn mini-campaign. Your main objective is to survive a mix of prior threats long enough to defeat Lord Blackburn himself.
The name can be slightly confusing for the time being because Castle Blackburn also returns in Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis. The two stages share Lord Blackburn, but their mechanics and strategies are different.

Castle Blackburn in Kingdom Rush
In the original game, Castle Blackburn is Stage 26 and the fourth stage of the Curse of Castle Blackburn campaign, following Rotwick and Ancient Necropolis. The campaign version starts you with 1,250 gold and 15 strategic points.
What makes the level difficult is its enemy variety. You need defenses capable of handling Zombies and Giant Rats in large groups while also dealing with tougher enemies such as Abominations, Lycans, Fallen Knights or Spectral Knights.
How to Beat Castle Blackburn
I believe a balanced defense works better than relying heavily on one tower type. Tesla towers are especially useful for clearing groups of weaker enemies like Zombies or Skeletons. One nice Veteran approach is to get a Tesla relatively early because of the large groups moving through the central routes.
You also need Mage towers. Spectral Knights create one of the biggest problems on the stage and make good Mage coverage important around the paths they use.

The strategy that I think works best is a mixture of Teslas, Sorcerer or Arcane Mage towers, Rangers, and a hero such as Gerald or Ten’Shi. Rangers with Wrath of the Forest can help control Lycans, while Sorcerers are particularly useful against heavily armored targets.
Don’t ignore your hero and reinforcements either. Castle Blackburn requires considerably more micromanagement than many earlier stages, especially during the first few waves when your defenses are still incomplete.
How to Beat Lord Blackburn
Lord Blackburn is the final boss of the stage. In the original Kingdom Rush, he has 7,200/9,000/10,800 HP depending on difficulty, 75% armor with no magic resistance. He can perform an area attack and temporarily disable nearby towers. That high physical armor makes magic your most reliable source of damage.

Before Wave 15, start shifting more of your resources toward Arcane Wizards or Sorcerer Mages rather than continuing to build physical towers everywhere. A very practical way to do this is to prepare multiple Arcane towers before Blackburn enters the map.
Once Blackburn appears:
- Use your hero and reinforcements to stall him.
- Keep him inside the range of your Mage towers for as long as possible.
- Don’t place all your important towers extremely close together, since his attack can disable nearby towers.
- Continue watching other enemies instead of sending everything against Blackburn immediately.
Castle Blackburn in Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis
Castle Blackburn returns as Stage 15 in Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis, once again ending in a fight against Lord Blackburn. The stage has 15 waves and starts with 1,200 gold.

However, don’t use the original game’s exact Blackburn stats for Genesis.
In Genesis, Lord Blackburn has:
- 9,000 HP on Casual
- 11,000 HP on Normal
- 12,000 HP on Veteran
- 14,000 HP on Impossible
- 60% armor on Normal
- No magic resistance
He also slams the ground every 18 seconds when a tower is nearby and stuns up to four towers for four seconds while damaging nearby ground units. Magic is therefore still a particularly good answer to Blackburn.

Kingdom Rush 6 Review
Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis uses Castle Blackburn as one of several callbacks to earlier Kingdom Rush locations and characters. Castle Blackburn appears relatively late in the 18-stage campaign, immediately before Golden Grove and Paladin Enclave.
For returning players, the Castle Blackburn stage is especially interesting because it doesn’t simply reuse the old fight. Lord Blackburn keeps the core idea of being an armored boss with no magic resistance and a tower-disabling ability, but his statistics and mechanics have been redesigned around Genesis’ combat system.
