Big Ambitions Fast Food: Is It Worth It & How to Make It Profitable

Being a foody, my favorite part in playing Big Ambitions was opening a fast food restaurant. There’s a lot of arguments about whether it worth opening one and how much the profit is. I can tell you at the beginning it’s a lot of work but after a short while your handwork pays off. In this guide we have covered how to open a fast food restaurant, what kind of stuff you should sell and how to maximize your profit.
In This Guide:
What Do You Need to Open a Fast Food Restaurant?
A Fast Food Restaurant needs a cash register (a regular checkout counter won’t work), a cleaning station, an Industrial Fryer, and at least one product. Your main items are Burger, French Fries, Hotdog, Pizza, Salad, Soda Can, and Ice Cream. Apple and Banana sell too, but not nearly as well.
- Cash Register: Appliance Store
- Cleaning Station: Appliance Store
- Industrial Grill: Appliance Store
- One Product (Hamburger, French Fries, Hotdog, etc): Wholesales (ie NY Distro Inc)
These are the basic things you need. Once your business gets going you can add more of these to attend to more customers at the same time. Also having a drinks fridge is kind of necessary for a fast food but not mandatory.

In the early versions fast foods weren’t profitable that much and that’s why many of the older guides advise against building one but in the later versions, especially the release version that changed and even one of the developers mentioned this. The trick is to sell multiple items not just burgers.
Revenue Vs Profit: What is the Difference?
Big Ambitions is basically about running business and many players make the same mistake as inexperienced business owners and confuse revenue with profit Revenue is your total sale in one day; to calculate your profit you have to subtract your expenses from revenue. One player reported a 30-capacity restaurant pulling in over $8,000 a day in revenue. Sounds great, but that same restaurant burned through roughly $4,000 a day in stock alone, leaving about $4,000 in actual profit.

The place you choose should have enough traffic to attract customer; the number most people landed n is 30 or more, preferably in a district with fewer fast food competitors already there. This isn’t a magic number, but the pattern is clear: small fast food spots tend to struggle, while ones moved into bigger buildings saw real improvement.

Check the traffic index, but don’t obsess over it.
If you’re still deciding what business fits your playstyle, our Big Ambitions guide covers picking your first store and setting up a headquarters.
Fast Food Supply Chain Support
This surprises new players the most. Fast food burns through stock fast, and once you’re doing real volume, restocking it yourself becomes a full-time job. Manual deliveries are capped at 20 boxes at a time, which isn’t enough once your restaurant gets busy.
Start the business by doing everything yourself and after a while when you made sure you have enough customers and there is room for improvement, hire workers. Once you’re making real money, get a Purchasing Agent to order stock automatically and a Logistics Manager to handle deliveries. Skip this, and you’ll spend most of your playtime driving back and forth instead of growing your empire.

Do You Need Marketing for Fast Food Restaurants?
One Reddit user said discovering a second marketing firm basically doubled their income. Billboard ads got good feedback too. But another player said cranking marketing to 100% across the board actually hurt their profit. Treat marketing as a tool you adjust, not something you max out and forget. Compare the cost against the extra customers it actually brings in. Once again this is something you wouldn’t need at the beginning.
Should You Actually Open One?
Here’s the honest answer: fast food isn’t automatically the best or worst business in the game. It rewards players who manage it actively, scale it with proper logistics, and watch their numbers closely. If you want something low-maintenance, other businesses might suit you better. But go big on location, keep it stocked, and don’t overspend on marketing, and fast food can absolutely become one of your biggest earners.
