The graphics are really cool and everything, but what really brings this living world to life is its voice acting, which plays a major role in how it shapes the atmosphere and characters. The developers wanted to make the Valley of the Mines feel like a harsh place rather than your typical fantasy world. To make sure every interaction feels alive, the voice production focused on natural dialogue and gave the actors deep character backgrounds. Hence, the result is something awesome. The Nameless Hero Voiced by Joseph May
May is widely known for his voice acting as Thomas the Tank Engine in the US version of Thomas & Friends plus Chase McCain in the Lego City Undercover video game series. On screen, he’s had television roles as Andy Button in Episodes and Paul in the BBC’s Casualty.
Diego Voiced by Andres Williams
Andres Williams has an extensive voice-acting career. He’s voiced characters in major video game titles such as Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire and Assassin’s Creed Mirage. He also voiced Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
Xardas Voiced by Harry Myers
Xardas and several other characters in the game are voiced by Harry Myers. He’s known for his work in major AAA titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon Zero Dawn, the new LEGO Batman game, and many others.
Velaya Voiced by Emma Gregory
Emma Gregory voices Velaya and Urnazkrog in Gothic 1 Remake. She’s highly celebrated for her phenomenal performance as Nightwarden Minthara in Larian Studios’ critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3. Her other major gaming credits include Divinity: Original Sin 1 & 2.
Ur Shak Voiced by Adam Diggle
Adam Diggle has voiced creatures and characters in several major video games, including Dror Ragzlin, the goblin leader in Baldur’s Gate 3. He has also appeared in games such as Total War: Warhammer, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the new LEGO Batman game, and Helldivers 2. He voices Ur Shak and various characters in the game.
Tochurnagg Voiced by Mark Holden
Mark Holden has worked across video games and television, with notable credits including Cyberpunk 2077 (Doctor Paradox) and Dying Light 2 Stay Human (Nikolas). He voices Tochurnagg, Muk, plus various characters in the game.
Gothic 1 Remake International Voice Cast
Because the original Gothic has such a massive following in Europe, THQ Nordic went all out with the game’s international voice acting. In addition to English, the “Voices Across the Colony” video series gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the German, Polish, and Russian dubs. Several actors from the 2001 release actually returned to reprise their iconic roles.
The German localization brings back legends like Bodo Henkel as Xardas and Christian Wewerka as the Nameless Hero, alongside Matthias Keller voicing Diego. Meanwhile, Jacek Mikołajczak returns to voice the iconic Polish Nameless Hero.
The Russian voice cast is equally stacked, starring Petr Glanc-Ivaschenko as the Nameless Hero, Islam Gandzhaev as Milten, Sergey Gabriyelyan jr. as Lares, and Fedor Sukhov as Xardas, all under the direction of Ivan Zharkov, who also voices various characters.
At the end of the day, an outstanding voice cast is what will make returning to the Valley of the Mines truly memorable. You can now jump into the Gothic 1 Remake, which officially launched on June 5, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
