Luna Abyss Walkthrough Guide: Everything You Need to Know to Hit 100%
Luna Abyss is an Indie, first-person shooter about Fawks, a red-eyed human sentenced to years of imprisonment on Luna, a new, creepy moon that appeared in the Earth’s orbit. You, as Fawks, take orders from an AI guard named Ailen to work off her sentence. The game has a lot of hidden depth to explore. Read this Luna Abyss guide to learn exactly what you need to know to survive.
What You’ll Read:
Luna Abyss Gameplay Basics
At the start of Lunar Abyss, you are sentenced to over 9,000 days in prison. When you complete missions, your sentence is reduced, but when you die, your sentence becomes longer. But honestly, the number is mostly just a cute addition. It does not heavily impact the main story.
Movement, Parkour, and Skips
This game is a mix of combat and heavy platforming, which basically means you shoot and move forward. Fawkes is separated from her physical body early on and moves as pure consciousness. And since you are a consciousness/ghost, you can possess various objects to easily move around.
You are able to wall run and double jump. You can even launch yourself using some floating eyeballs. There is also an action button to build temporary platforms out of blue fragments or grapple spiked balls. Overall, the movement feels smooth and light, but takes some time to get the hang of it.
Hate platforming? Fortunately, there are optional ghostly images that allow you to skip to the next checkpoint. You can also toggle the traversal skip in the settings menu. This lets you bypass all platforming sections.
Dash Mechanics and Portals
Your dash is key to survival, but it does not make you invincible. You will still take damage if you dash through enemy bullets. You must use it to pass through pink energy portals. You can also crouch while you run to slide under low laser barriers.

Luna Abyss Weapons
The good news is that ammo is unlimited in Lunar Abyss. The bad news is that guns will overheat and need a cooldown time. You reload when you completely stop firing. Each gun has a single upgrade to reduce cooldown times.
You can quick-swap with the D-pad (PC: Number Keys) and hold LB/L1 (PC: Q) to open a weapon wheel and slow down time. You only get four weapons in the game, and they unlock in this order:
- Scout Rifle (Your starting weapon)
- Shieldbreaker (Your “Shotgun”)
- Monarch’s Lance sniper
- Atom Splitter (Your “Rocket Launcher”)

Pro-tip: Map the D-pad to the back paddles on your Steam Deck. This keeps your thumbs on the movement sticks.
Luna Abyss Combat Mechanics
Luna Abyss combats are straightforward but chaotic. You will dodge endless bullet patterns while managing your limited resources. Here is what you should know:
Breaking Enemy Shields
Some enemies use colored shields that only break with specific guns. The Shieldbreaker shatters blue shields. The Monarch’s Lance destroys purple shields. Heavy weapons overheat extremely fast. Shoot two or three times to break a shield. Immediately swap back to your Scout Rifle to get the kill.
Executions and Healing
You can execute low-health enemies (Gamepad: X / Square, PC: E). If you hold the button, it will suck their soul and heal you instead. It is better to prioritize healing. Use your Scout Rifle to weaken enemies. Heavy weapons will accidentally kill them before the execution prompt even appears.

Note: Standard combat is pretty easy with the game’s auto-aim. But boss fights are a totally different story. Especially the first reactor boss feels very unbalanced and catches you off guard. So be prepared!
Luna Abyss Guide Progression
Luna Abyss is highly linear. There are 6 Luna Abyss chapters. Here is how progression works in the game:
The Prison Hub
Fawkes returns to a prison cell hub between missions. It mostly serves as a quiet intermission area, but there is a library here that has all the dense text logs you picked up during your runs to read.

Collectibles and Achievement Guide
Luna Abyss is a very straightforward completion. There are over 100 collectibles scattered in the game, many of which you can grab without too much trouble.
There are also 45 achievements or trophies in Luna Abyss. Some are very easy to do, like the “Welcome to the Abyss” achievement that you receive simply by starting the game. Others, like destroying the Drift Crystals, require some effort and patience. Check them all below to learn how to get all of them:
- All 45 Luna Abyss Achievement Guide
- Luna Abyss Drift Crystal Achievements Guide (Important, requires a guide!)
Side Quests
There is also a side quest category. Treat the NPCs like collectibles and talk to every stranger you meet. This triggers optional dialogue and side quests to follow their character arcs. Talk to all of them to unlock a specific Luna Abyss achievement.
100% Level Completion
Do not waste hours searching empty corners. The game sometimes punishes you if you explore too far off the critical path. Use the in-game level selector instead. It displays exactly how many lore entries, breakable crystals and health upgrades remain in each stage.
Warning: Be careful when you jump back into older stages. You do not keep your weapon upgrades or unlocks when you replay previous levels.
Luna Abyss Endings
Spoiler Alert: If you do NOT want to be spoiled, skip here, as it is about the game’s ending. (Obviously!)

With that out of the way and off my conscience, let’s start. Luna Abyss does not have multiple endings. It is a linear story, and your choices throughout the story do not affect the ending. After defeating the final boss, Hands of the Abyss, Fawks realizes Aylin was using her all along to offer her to a giant being called “Mother.” You can learn more about the ending and watch its video below:
Luna Abyss Bosses
There are about 9 bosses and mini-bosses in Luna Abyss. Some act as a tutorial to the game’s mechanics. Others will kill you at least a few times before you can kill them. Here are all of the Luna Abyss boss fights in the order they appear. Click to learn how to defeat each:

How Long to Beat Luna Abyss?
The Luna Abyss main story is about 8 hours. If you do the side quests, that number goes up to 9 hours. And if you are a completionist and want 100% completion (including all Luna Abyss collectibles), expect to spend 11 hours on this game.
Lunar Abyss Settings and Optimization
Luna Abyss has plenty of flexible options to customize your experience. Here is exactly how:
Best Steam Deck Settings
By default, your graphics options are completely locked to resolution only. To unlock the full menu, type SteamDeck=0 %command% into the game’s launch options. The default preset uses medium settings, but the grass looks shimmery. Change your Anti-Aliasing to High to fix this without tanking your performance.
For the best balance of visuals and performance, turn off FSR upscaling completely. Use a mix of High settings and lock your framerate at a stable 30 FPS.
Lunar Abyss Difficulty and Accessibility
You get four different difficulty levels that you can swap between at any time. Pick the lowest setting, “Story” mode, if you just want to relax and experience the narrative. The game heavily features auto-aim, and you can crank it all the way up to 100%. If you prefer manual aiming, simply turn off the lock-on.
Stuck on a tricky jump? Turn on the traversal skip option to bypass platforming sections entirely. Using these accessibility features or dropping the difficulty will never void your achievements.

Luna Abyss Voice Actors
Not exactly a guide, but I thought it might interest you to know who has been talking in your ears throughout the game. Luna Abys features an amazing cast, and I bet you recognize some of them. Check out their notable works and pictures below:
